This month's Powersports Business magazine has an article stating that ATK has partnered with Hyosung and will be providing small street bikes to be "feeder bikes" to Harley dealers.

The 250cc bikes will sell for $4,000 and the 600-700 cc bikes for $7,500 and will initially be sold in 30 Harley dealerships. ATK/Hyosung says they will be to Harley as Scion is to Toyota( pretty complimentary to themselves. ( They are more likely
to be like what the Cimarron was to Cadillac).

Still, the bikes will be manufactured in Utah so I guess I have to pull for them.

Now I'm pissed all over again.

Read that closer; HDI is not involved.

"Read that closer; HDI is not involved."

Interesting..it looks like you are correct, there is no word at all from Harley, only ATK. They state they "will" and they already have 30 Harley dealers.

I don't understand how they can expect to do this with Harley being primarily (maybe solely) single line dealers. Can't picture Harley allowing the two brands in the same showroom.

There are many multi brand HD dealers. Like stated in the other post, this has nothing to do with HD, only a handful of dealers.

Whether or not a Harley dealer handles other brands is dependent upon several factors
One of the biggest factors is a dealer's size. That is, if they are a successful, influential H-D dealer they can get away with a lot more than say a small, new dealer. All around will deny this, of course.

There's is another important factor that no one will acknowledge, but I believe it to be true: There are some Harley dealers out there that absolutely need another line to survive. Harley does not like to see a dealership fail so, if it takes an additional line to keep the doors open I think H-D kinda looks in the other direction.

I could imagine a scenario wherein HDI would accept ATK. However, a Hyosung hook-up in this country is very remote. Particularly so when you see Hyosung's very badly done V-Rod rip-off, the GV650

I was in a Harley dealer in CA a couple of weeks ago that also carried Husqvarna... an odd mix that.

The dealer where I bought my Uly was small, and started selling Schwinn scooters in 2006.

That didn't last too long and then they started selling Benelli Tre's. As the service dept regularly f'd up my Buell that one was a mystery to me.

As much as I liked the sales/parts/accessories staff at that dealer, I had to laugh when they tried to get me to trade my Uly for one of those things. I can only imagine the ordeal the poor sucker(s) who brought a Benelli in for service would have to go through.

Battley in Maryland ("the world's first Buell dealer") has H-D, Buell, Yamaha, Ducati, BMW, Bimota, and some dirt bikes. It's a really small shop too. Definitely makes visiting the dealer more interesting if you have to wait on service.

The dealer I got my Uly from is also Suzuki and yamaha but in another show room next door. HD UK don't allow two brands in the same shop. only place I've seen HD and another brand was Maui
