Anyone got a spare belt for a Uly? My bike's been down for many weeks, and the B/O date on belts has changed AGAIN to Jan 06. I finally called HD cust srvc, and basically got a "TS, nothing we can do about it" answer. So my favorite bike and primary year-round transportation is now a 2-year-old, $12000 garage decoration. I'm particularly happy I anted-up for the extended warranty- that was cash well-spent, eh? Aurgh...

Appreciate any help- sorry about the frustrated rant...
Thanks!
-Mike

I got one brand new on box, it is yours, all I ask is you mail me back your replacement when it finally comes in. PM system seems to be down, so email me at azureus4+rarebird@gmail.com with your address and I can ship it out to you tomorrow on my lunch break.

I hope mine gets in before that. Blue is in the shop getting a belt replaced under warranty. They said it would be done about the 28th. I'm just sitting here watching the ice storm.

The power of kindness on here never ceases to amaze me. Of course sometimes we poke fun at one another, but it's not done in a mean-spirited way. More like how we'd joke around with our brother. I am proud to be a part of this board, this community, fraternity and brotherhood. And though we haven't met (yet), you are all my brothers. Merry Christmas everyone and especially to Froggy! What a wonderful gesture!

Wow, I feel like some Shakespeare!

"This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."

As of this posting I haven't heard from him yet. I rode to work today in the 24°F cold with the box strapped to the back of my Blast, I looked like some kind of Honda Civic with a big ass spoiler, the belt was taking up half a lane. : D

Yea, ordered mine 9 Nov and still backordered. Hopefully this is not an indication on how HD will support us in the future.

I'm hoping American Sport Bike stocks the belts so we have a 'stash' to depend on. 2 months B/O for a common item - that can leave you absolutly 'dead in the water' is simply intolerable. I fear this IS an indication of the kind of support we can expect. Fortunatly there are only about 5 or 6, Uly specific parts, (ECM, VR, Belt etc) that will leave one stranded. If it was a leaky shock, bad muffler etc one can (you could even jury rig a clutch cable) still get home. Thats why i purchased a 'spare' 06 Tiger - for those trip cancelling malfunctions that one can't predict. The Uly's fine, it's the parts network that needs repair. BTW - I do have a spare, belt (used), new clutch cable, axle spacers, wheel bearings, front isolater, fork seals and misc gaskets for middle of riding season emergency's. Be glad to loan them out for someone unfortunate enough to need 'em. Nice spirit Froggy! Happy Holidays all, j

Found an 09 Uly XT in Kalispel, MT for $9,000 OTD. Might be worth buying for the parts alone.

Problem is, ever since the announcement Buell has been backlogged with orders from people stocking up, so Buell can't keep up. Similar to how right before a hurricane the supermarket gets raided. Many items are starting to clear backorder and lead times are slowly coming back to normal levels.

The ECM, and VR are shared with XB models, and the Belt is shared with the xb12ss and stt models. : )

The Ulysses specific parts are all hard parts and not prone to failure (tail section, reinforced rims, etc. : ) )

Actually the Clutch/throttle cables are Uly specific, but I wouldn't call them failure prone, hell it took me 40k to snap a clutch cable without ever maintaining it.

Thanks for the clarification Froggy - with these critical items shared with other XB's, the pool of parts options are deeper than I thought. j

Froggy!
I just got this mass blast of BadWeb email notifications in today's download- guess the pipe had been clogged! I don't usually hang out at the site, just wait for my emails from relevant posts (which is STILL a bunch!), so not sure what happened 253 in my inbox today.

This is what makes the Buell community so incredibly cool. I really appreciate the offer! I've got kids home on break until after the new year, so I'll be stuck with a cage until they go back. I'm going to wait until the 01/06 B/O date, then go from there. Hate to trade forward for a belt when I have no idea of H-D delivery plans. January will be 2 months, though, and I'll be chompin' big-time by then, so I'll check back. If another desperate Bueller beats me to it, so be it- my loss!

Thanks again, and sorry for the unnecessary packing...
-Mike

I don't have the official answer yet of why the emails didn't go out, but they basically were stuck piling up in the outbox. Only 253 messages? You got lucky, I had over 10x that! : D

My offer still stands should you reconsider. Hell this belt has 300 miles on it already, yet it hasn't left the box : )

Rarebird would you mind posting your specifics here:

Thanks and good luck with the belt. I was lucky to find one at a local dealer, I'm pushing 40K on my current belt otherwise I'd be willing to lend also...
