Hello, I have problems with my muscles, and sometimes "loose" the ability to really grip with my hands. Heavy exercise or hard use makes this happen fairly quickly, so I need some kind of auto shifter, air shifter or electric shifter for the Thunderstorm engine. I'm also wondering if there is a slipper clutch available for this motor/transmission to make "automatic" downshifts safer as well. Exercise won't EVER help me--my problem is genetic and can't be fixed. That's why I'm hopping for suggestions on fixing the bike. I COULD get an FJR1300AE with the auto-shifter, but then it would weight 200 pounds more. Suggestions? Live, Love, Laugh, Crash106 |

I have bad arthrites in left thumb joint. This is great info. How difficult are these devices to install? I was afraid that I was going to have to go to the FJR(A) or a scooter in the near future but I hope this is the alternative. |

Pso, I am currently riding a Burgman 650 as my commuter bike because of these muscle weakness issues. It's not an XB12XT, but it's good for one person and okay for a two up weekend trip. Crash106 |

If it is a hand strength problem that you have, it is not an shifter that you need, but an automatic clutch. I've never looked for one for Buells, but the Rekluse clutch is made for dirt bikes. The Rekluse clutch will disengage at low rpm or under back torque. Mark in AZ |
