I rode Ursula, (name I gave my Uly),into a parking garage. I pulled into a space in the motorcycle section next to a big very tricked out Harley. I just put my thumb on the kill switch when an extremely loud noise booms at me. It was so loud and so sudden that I almost dropped Ursula!!!! The Harley had a motion detector with alarm. WHOOOOOP-WHOOOOP WEEEEE-WOOOOO WEEEE-WOOOO, MOVE AWAY FROM THE MOTORCYCLE YOU ARE TOO CLOSE. THE OWNER HAS BEEN SUMMONED. This repeats until I move Ursula 4 spaces away. I place my disc lock on and I am taking off my gear when a young man comes down the isle towards the Harley. Well the alarm starts to scream and the man jumps back about 10 feet. He had a startled look on his face and he looked at me, I just shook my head. His face turned angry and he started screaming in Spanish at the bike, walked up to it and kicked it over. I just about wet myself I was laughing so hard. I do not condone violence but that bike was asking for it. The bike started to whoop again and I decided to mosey off. It was gone when I returned.
I think I would have called the police instead of laughing. What if it had been your bike and he kicked it over just because he didn't like the color or something when you weren't there.
Kicking it was a bit steep. The alarm on the other hand is a bit obnoxious. If you can't have cars or bikes park the normal distance away from it, it's time to keep the bike at home.
The reason I laughed is the thing startled me so much that I almost dropped my bike. I was really mad about that and I was tempted to kick that sucker. The kid that did the kicking was about 15 feet away when the alarm went off. I bet he had to change his shorts. I was going to pick the bike up but if the owner showed up I would get the blame.
I spotted a nasty-looking R1200GS near a friend's apartment and sauntered over to take a look. I was standing about two feet away from it, checking out all the mods, when it began a loud beeping.
Really? Just standing near it? That might be a little much.
