I just came back from DC on a road trip (in car) and uncovered my bike and took it out ..I glanced down and noticed that the mileage gauge said "F 00" , but the tank is full. I circulated through the trips and mileage to make sure I could and didn't have a problem. After a few miles it defaulted back to "F 00" . The fuel or engine light is not on. Any ideas? btw, its an 06 12x.

Check grounds. Usually F 00 only shows up (as you know) when the low fuel light comes on. Does your bike have the new wire conduit at the steering head? Could be a chafed wire in there somewhere making the odometer (but not the light) think the low fuel warning has tripped...

My '06 is doing that also, it is a known problem where the wires on the fuel pump wear through over a sharp edge of the fuel pump bracket inside the tank.

Drain tank, jack up rear of bike letting swing arm hang down, unbolt bottom of rear shock, move arm down further, remove fuel pump from left side of tank/frame. Sleeve wires, reinstall.

I will be doing mine soon, there are threads in history with good pictures. Try a search for 'fuel pump wires'.

No I havent gotten that yet, is that a HD/Buell part? I want to replace it. My wires seem to be ok though from an external look.
