Hello everyone. I purchased a new buell last just 08 xb12xt. Lovely bike, had a few small problems but been pretty good.

My question is do u need a special adapter to get these power out lets to work and also do u need the ignition on. I have an intercom that i need to wire to the bike so it would be very convient to use the power out lets especially if u need the ignition on so i don't dis charge the battery.

I tested both power outlets with a mobile charger and the light on the charger doesn't come on. I used a multimeter and they don't read just 0.00.

Is it possible i need some sort adapter first.

Also i was reading the thread about the clutch wire getting burnt on the header of the engine, my bike is 08, was bought in july 08, do i have the new recommend part. I read some where that the new part is on the 08 and 09 models.

Thanks
David

Yes, the key needs to be on.

A standard American automobile style cigar lighter plug is all you need.

The "08's (I have one also) have the clutch cable problem solved. As long as you have a stamped metal cable retainer you are good to go, the wire-form retainer was prone to failure.

Thanks for the reply.

Should a mobile charger work. plugged straight in to the power out lets. or u need a standard american automobile style cigar plug first.
I put in a cigar lighter that i had in my van and it didn't seem to fit this power outlet.

I'm from ireland , you don't know what adapter i would need here.

Thanks
David.
