If so, would you be interested in helping me out?

There is a guy in Niwot that makes bike racks for motorcycles. I want one for my XT, but he needs to see one to build one.

If you are in that area and interested in helping out, let me know.

The company that builds the racks is Johnny Rack.

Todd:

I would be happy to take my Uly by for him to look at. If that does not work, I believe that High Country HD/Buell has several XTs on the floor . . .they are only about 20 minutes from Niwot.

PM sent . . .

Great concept, but man does it look like some kind of strange wheelie bar. Sorry I can't help, but it might be something I'd be interested in when said and done.

I'm interested if you can come up with something. I've got a 7 day bike event coming up in a couple months was, just this morning, was wishing I had some way to tote my pedal bike on the back of the Ulysses.

I'm game for one if he makes them.

I once bungeed a Diamondback to the springer on my Triumph chop and delivered it to a man in need about 100 miles away. This thing looks better than the bungee system by far.

I live in Boulder and being the Mountain Bike town that it is, I've seen a few (motor)bikes driving around with this rack. I thought it was a pretty sweet set-up, but I had no idea it was made locally. I checked out a GS 650 carrying a nice road bike and it was very secure. A bit more rear end overhang than I would be comfortable riding around with, but nicely done, just the same.
I have an 09 XBX and I would also be happy letting the guy take a look at it.

Thanks for posting this up Squid. I saw those racks a while back and have been wanting one ever since.

And thank you Don for stepping up.

I spoke with James at Johnny Rack a few minutes ago. He is looking forward to taking me up on an offer to use my Uly for development of an XB rack bracket/adapter. He anticipates starting the Buell project in May or June. I will provide updates as they things develop.

Ideal situation would be to have the rack work with the bags (Outdoorsman) intact.

... or with the bags (Journey) intact!!!!!

I would probably have one of those if it would work with the luggage on!!

. . .and I would prefer they be designed to work with my Caribou bags installed. What to do . . .what to do?

This would actually be a requirement for me. I would need to store my motorcycle gear and mountain bike gear and a clean change of clothes for the trip.

From the design used on other bikes, I would hope that they would allow us to still use our 2 side bags.

But we will have to wait and see how they want to tackle the situation.

And thanks again big time to Don for stepping up on this.
