I am new to Buells but own 3 Harleys already and am a marine master tech.
I would like to know if there is anything I should take a good look at as or for problem areas on a couple bikes I am looking at.
Any input would be greatfull
Thanks !

The easiest/best thing to do first is have your dealership run your VIN and make sure all recalls were done.

Wheel bearings, belt condition, main wire harness at the steering head, check all for damage.

Flhman - There are showstopper problems, but there are a few things that tend to go bad:

1 - The throttle cables will likely need replacing. They get banged on by the forks. The 07 Uly comes with a plastic guard that helps keep the forks off the wiring harness and cables. Get one for your 06.

2 - The 06 fuel pump chafes it's wiring and will eventually stop working. You can remove the pump and reinforce the wiring.

3 - Rear wheel bearings are problematic. There are new bearings for 09. Have a pair pressed in the first time you change the rear tire.

4 - The muffler will rust. Paint it or coat it.

5 - Some of the 06 had ping problems.

6 - If it came with a D616 front tire you may get interesting handling.
