I'll have to run dual side stands though!

Walmart did not impress. They have(at least locally) a no return policy for batteries that require acid filling by the customer. After a phone call and a little grumbling a manager got involved and they allowed the return.

Personal new policy regarding batteries; Don't buy one that is not already charged. Make them prove the battery is holding at least 12.7v while sitting on the shelf for however long. Make sure the particular battery has a return policy.

Since it is important to me to have the bike running for work, I stopped at Auto Zone, no luck. Went to Advance Auto, they only had the fill yourself-good luck batteries. O'Reilly Auto Parts had the right size and it is the 'absorbed glass mat technology', pre-charged unit that I was looking for. They took it off the shelf and plugged it into their tester where it showed 12.74v. Yea!

Brought the battery home, it fit perfectly. The fixed terminals had a nut on the top and the sides. It came with two bronze spacers to make the side terminals fit flush and proper. While cranking it never dropped below 10.3v! Awesome.

If anyone wants to know it is a "Super Start Powersport AGM". Part number ETX14. One year exchange warranty and it cost $73.00. It is made by Ozark Automotive Distributors, Springfield, Mo.

From the looks and sounds of it, a follow up report may not be necessary! I'm going for a ride!

Oh yeah, they also have a Nationwide warranty number! 866-830-4351

Etennuly, betcha a used stock battery if you peel the label on the box it's a Deka/East Penn battery. They're made by East Penn and sold to different distributors. Did a search and your battery looks just like mine above.

Deka relabeled

Mine's working great so far and the extra threaded holes allowed me to spread the wiring around a bit.

New battery Uly

Too bad the Wal Mart battery didn't pan out, I liked the option of an easy road trip replacement if necessary...

Thanks for the info Etenn, sorry for the hassle. The good news is there should be an oreilly's opening in the next three weeks about a mile from the house.

Sooo what was the part number from Oreilly's????

That was ETX14.

My theory on the Walmart deal was they are everywhere so it would be an easy fix on the road, but crap happens. As far as that goes, if you did need to warrant one of the fill it yourself units, you would need four hours and a battery charger.
