I went for a long ride today ( 450 miles from Cincinnati to SE Ohio, great roads ) and about halfway thru the ride I started having a problem with the speedometer, it would quit and then after a few miles the engine light would come on also. It felt like the engine was low on power at the same time. If I shut it off and let it sit for a minute and then restart it it would be OK but then it would happen again. It happened about 4 times. The last time I was close to home so I just kept going and it fixed itself? Has anybody else had this problem? My 2001 Cyclone had a speed sensor go out but it was not intermittent, it just went. Could the speed sensor cause this?

Possibly

You will more than likely find that there is/are dirt/debries on the face of the sensor.

Remove it, clean it off with contact/electircal cleaner and reinstall.

Good Luck
