Ive got an 06 Uly and most of my riding is done below 80mph and first gear is just way too tall for any off-roading if you ask me. Sooooo, smaller front sprocket seems the way to go. So how many teeth on the stock one and does someone make one with, say, one less tooth? Or maybe one from another XB?

B2L- The trick setup is to change your primary gearing. You can buy a smaller engine sprocket and different primary chain for an XB9 from your dealer or as a kit from American Sport Bike (board sponsor). It drops the overall ratio by about the amount of one gear (i.e.- 5th = 4th, 4th = 3rd, etc.).

I was reading an article on the new Euro only Sportser XR1200 and it lists the primary drive as 1.68. Is that better than what is available in the XB9

I don't know about the Euro Sporty set up, but I got the XB-9 kit from American Sport Bike in mine. I love it. Didn't hurt my gas mileage but just a touch. Bike is way more responsive at any speed and much better 1st gear for rougher terrain.
