What size socket wrench does the front preload adjustment nut require?

I use a 22mm long-reach socket.

The one that came in the toolkit? I know, it's a spanner, but it fits, so why not use that?

It may fit the nut but the handlebars are too close to allow you to do much with it. You really need a socket and extension.

The socket makes adjustments quicker and easier, especially if you're doing a fairly extreme adjustment, like going from one-up to passenger loading.

Wrench in the toolkit is fine for minor tweaks.

I use a regular 22mm with an extension, which is the same socket that I use with the axle nut to take my wheels off.

Due to a combination of laziness and no riding time over the past couple of weeks, I only today got the suspension fully dialed in.

For the '08 models, it is the 3/4" socket you need. The 22mm is WAY too big.
