I recently bought a set of 3 hard cases from ChicagoHD. All was fine, except the hardware/instructions for the rear top rack was missing. I called them a couple times, they said they'd send it out. Guess it's not happening...

So I was at Brians HD/Buell in PA yesterday. The parts guy said I can't purchase just the hardware. Bah. : (

So can anyone at least tell me the exact size bolts I need: 2 bolts that fasten the rack into the underside of the grab handles; Two bolts/lock nuts (and lock washers?) that fasten the lower portion of the rack to the other thingie...

I also need to know the diameter of the bolts as well as thread number(?)I'm hoping I can just get these from Fastenal or even Lowes, if possible. I really don't care if they weren't black, at this point (stainless would work). I just want to use my top case!

Thanks a lot for your help!

The instructions show that the screws to the grab handles are 5/16-18unc x 1.0 inch long with 11/16" belleville washers. (I just used flat washers with loc-tight everywhere).
The screws that hold the top rack to the crossbar (other thingie?) are 1/4-20unc x 5/8 inch long with lock nuts.
Oh, by the way, you can purchase the hardware separately..... part numbers are:

5/16-18unc x 1.0 flange head screws #4567Y
belleville washer 11/16" #7082Y
torque to 19-20 ft-lbs

1/4-20unc x 5/8 flange head screw #4536Y
1/4-20unc lock nut #7981
torque to 108-120 IN-lbs

Please note that although you can?? use aftermarket hardware in stainless or whatever, but to play it safe, I'd just use the hardware spec'd by Buell. At least the screws..... (I believe it's all grade 8 hardware)

TJ- I can't thank you enough!

Now why can't the guy at the PARTS counter do that for me??

I did try those part #'s at the ChicagoHarley website (I won't post the link in case they aren't a sponsor), and I get:

"There is no product that matches the search criteria."

Anyway- thanks for the huge help. I'll call my dealer with those numbers are see if they can get these parts for me.
