I would like to replace the front beak fender on my 2008 Ulysses with a "normal" fender from one of the other Buell models. Has anyone done this and know what model to reference? I'm hoping that the fender from a 2008 Lightning may work. Stock fenders appear to be in the $70 range, rather than the carbon aftermarket fenders running > $200.

Any should bolt right up. CityX guarantees you'll get a black one though; all the translucid bikes come with black front fenders. Or you could have them look up one for a new UlyXT, it uses a "standard" fender too.

The "normal fender", as you call it, will leave a section of the fork tube exposed to flying debris.

It's a shame to get a Blood Hound, only to have him debarked...; )

A little info from the archives:
Fender: M1662.02A8MW
Wireform front brake bracket: H0418.02A8A
Headlight bracket: M0619.1AD
Bolts for headlight bracket (2) AA0404.11CVB
Just a reminder that the headlight bracket takes a little creativity to make it work.

I seldom go "off" road and wanted to put on a more traditional front fender. Since my Uly is black; got to go with a black fender. I would have gone with the XT model, but none were to be found and I got a good deal on the X, including hard side bags and taller windshield.

That's exactly what I want to do with my bike. Off to the H-D dealership this evening.

I like the stock beak also. I also like the wire light guards, jut a pain to clean the bugs out from behind them.

Take the guard off to clean. It pops on and off, no tools required, just reach behind one of the lights and pull out and forward. <snap> off she comes.

I went with the OEM fender a couple of years ago and today I put on the American Sportbike carbon fiber unit. In a nutshell it's sweet. It's bigger than the stocker and seems to fill in the void much better.

I have problems with both the Beak and the non-XB12X fender.

The beak I guess works OK but I ride rain or shine and it's not real good at water deflection, so what's the point of having it anyway?

The standard XB fender looks really sweet, and although some may not like the area exposed on the Uly-X between it and the headlight assembly I like it. Seems like not very much crud protection though.

The frontal fork slider coverage I suspect is important and when ridden a small-fendered Uly-X probably won't suffer any more than a stocker Uly-X. And what about the STT? Doesn't it lack any lower at all?

To me the stock Uly-X lower fender/fork guard arrangement is the most worthy. It still doesn't cover enough IMO, too much crap still ends up on my engine and VR and exhaust. I want a full fender down there, with the slider protectors.

I've also blown two right side fork seals in 46k, while the left side has no problems. I really like ZTL, but I'm beginning to suspect that the rotor throws a lot of crap right at the slider. Anybody else notice more junk on the right slider, especially down at the caliper mount casting?

I also like the beak, i ended up adding it to my Lightning.
About the STT, it has 2 little fork guard things. I ended up taking mine and dying them to try and get them closer to Hero Blue.

Hey, any of your guys switching over to the low standard fender, my kid just bought an STT and wants to add the Uly lower fender to it. So he's looking for one if someone wants to sell?
