I have a SkiDoo flipup for sledding that I have used for a rain helmet on long trips (NY to Myrtle). It looks like a Air Force Pilot lid. It is BIG looking for a motorcycle. The local Harley shop has the Fulmer and KBC. My priorites are: Ventilation, Function, then looks. My problem is there aren't many shops in my area to sample from. I might even consider a Shoe Multi, but don't know how it would fit. |

I just purchased my second AGV Miglia in your basic flat black. I wrecked in my first one and like the helmet and fit enough to get the same helmet again. I got both through www.bikebandit.com. They were really good about accepting the couple I returned while trying to get the right fit. If you're an AMA member you also get a discount on your purchases. My new lid was $143.77, after my AMA discount. I have a couple pics of my crashed helmet if you want to see how it held up. |

I go to the Cycle World (IMS) show each year at the Javitts Center in New York City. I try on helmets from all the manufacturers until I find the one that fits best. Then I search online until I find the best price. Helmet fit is a very personal thing. Everybody has a different head shape, and the helmet that fits me like a glove might be horrible for you. I'd suggest you take the trip down into the City next January, and take in the show. Look at all the new bikes, have some fun and try on helmets. That said, I really like my Nolan X-1002. |

I've had many a helmet, but am now a complete convert to the flip us style. I chose a KBC FFR. Took a little to get used to it. Slightly heavy, a little noisy. But, you flip it up at low speeds, to get fresh air, when you need to talk to someone, when you need to sneeze or spit. Theese benefits more than made up for the drawbacks. $199 on E-bay w/dark tint shield (that I don't use because it seems greeen).

I tried the Shoei and Nolan N-102 and bought the N-102 because it fit my head better then the Shoei. |

Schuberth are very cool. They are kinda heavy but have a trick integrated sun visor. I use mine as *winter* helmet. |

I have the Fulmar Modus modular. Plenty of ventilation, but the fit isnt very good. I bought it because it was cheap. |

I'm interested in the Roof modular but I tried on a Nolan and it was very comfy and mechanically sound. http://www.designerhelmets.com/prodlist.php?cat=Ro of&prod=New+RO5+Boxer+V |

I have been using a HJC Symax for years and am looking to upgrade to the new Symax II soon. Comfortable and not too expensive. |

I found my Roof Boxer great but rather noisy. Went with a Shoei Syncrotech after that and loved it (especially the Pinlock anti-mist insert which worked a treat-you can retro fit them(or similar) to any helmet btw)-a quality helmet. Now I've got the Caberg Trip and wouldn't go back to a helmet without the internal dark visor-it beats changing the visor at night. Can't beat the spec for the price (£90 in the UK) although I did have to do minor mods to suit me (make a small notch in the visor for the ratchet to hold it open slightly to de-mist) and the vents to clear the visor when closed aren't the best. May go with a Schuberth next if the fit is right-the sound-proofing is supposed to be top notch. |

It all depends on head shape. I have a Nolan N-102 that I really like. It's feels pretty good. It's not terribly too heavy and it has the best strap that I've ever seen/used. The outer sun shade visor is very handy to have. A couple months ago I tried a Shoei Multitech and was blown away by how perfectly it fit my head and how light it was. So now I'm jonesing for a Multitech. At least I now know that I have a Shoe shaped head. I just wish the Multitech had a sun visor (though it's pretty easy to put on/off sunglasses with a modular) and could some how legally copy Nolan's strap design. Bell Apex XXL kevlar... I got a big head... no pun intended. Fits great, light, and gives a sense of being able to slice thru the wind. |
