I usually wear an Arai Viper GT full-face helmet. I noticed, even after fitting and adjusting the Strada screen mounts, that there was noise and some buffeting at times, although the pressure on my chest was greatly reduced.

On Saturday, I dug out my ROOF RO10 helmet to give it an airing. This was the first time I have ever worn it whilst riding my Uly. What a difference!!! No buffeting or unwanted head movement and quieter too!!!! I went out again this morning to confirm this and, for me at least, the ROOF RO10is definitely a better helmet for my Uly!

Shoei Hornet for me and I have no complaints about how it acts in the wind. Just got an HJC Symax II and it too works well.

I use a Schuberth S1 which is a pretty quiet helmet. Once I got the adjustments sorted on my Strada mounts I don't get any buffeting, just a bit of wind noise but nothing serious.

Arai Vector (intermediate oval)- it's the loudest helmet I've ever owned. But I wear ear plugs at all times and its light, flows great air, good in the rain, and fits perfectly on my freakishly large XXL head. Very comfy on long days.

My Arai Profile is loud also but it's the only helmet that will fit my long oval (egg) head.

I don't understand why other helmet companies don't make different shaped helmets like Arai. Oops, off topic.

NOW you tell me that someone makes helmets for the freakishly large oval shaped head!

Actually my HJC CL-15 XXXL fits just fine, but it feels like it could be a more... oval.

It is not super quiet, but it feels just fine in the wind. At 6'4", I don't get any buffeting with the stock screen on my '07.

The helmet is not quiet, but I wear earplugs unless I'm just running around town - which I don't do much of anyway.

I prefer unique over "freakishly large". It's better for my self esteem.

Yep - lots in a helmet shape. Even expensive ones can be crap.

Shoei multi-tec, lovely, but whips my head around with buffeting and noise.

Shoei Z-one - the best helmet I've ever owned, and most likely the most quiet as well. They stopped making them as they are a little tough to get on (but you can wear them all day once over your noggin).

I have Shoei RF1000.
Its a quiet helmet - until I put on the Strada brackets and then I get a lot of noise coming from low pressure turbulence coming from the chin area.

If I put a finger in front of the chin, then the noise disappates by about 80%. I am going to try my chin spoiler and see if that makes a difference.

Me too. I'm still messing with the adjustments tho. I have found the chin spoiler to make no difference.

Scorpion 700 , most comfy helmet I've tried on , not to mention a great price to boot. Of the helmets I have used over the years , the manufacturers have yet to eliminate wind noise. Ear plugs work best.

My Nolan N-102 N-com is GREAT, though noisy. Absolutely no buffeting, even at high speeds with the sun shade up or down. Noise doesn't bother me when wearing ear plugs or ear phones. Also, my HJC full face carbon fiber doesn't buffet and gets lots of air movement (not so good air through the helmet on the Nolan). HJC isn't too noisy.

Only probelem that I have encountered with my Nolan N-102 is that thechin bar is a little to close for my likeing.

My daily beater helmet is an AC-12 carbon. Pretty to look at, very light and kinda on the noisy side.

My travel helmet is a Scorpion EXO-1000 with the flip up visor on the inside. I stripped all the plastic off and painted it to match the uly, then sent it back to Scorpion to install new plastic. It was covered under warranty at no cost, other than shipping. Hats of to the customer service at Scorpion. Compared to my AC-12, the EXO-1000 makes think I'm in an SUV instead of on a motorcycle. Very comfortable and the quietest I've ever had. I do wear earplugs though.

Love my RF1000. I found the chin spoiler to make tons of difference for me noise wise, but I still think ear plugs are a good idea. Disclaimer: I don't have a Uly and I think wind noise varies tremendously from bike to bike, rider to rider, etc.

I have a RF1000 and like it alot, good ventilation. Added the chin spoiler and that made a big difference. I tried a Bell Mag 8 for an open face helmet but will be changing for a Arai SZ RAM 3, VERY nice open face, the bell was way too noisy and there was high speed lift from the visor. I have a dream, and it is to do low to medium speed back-road cruising with a open face helmet with the shield up. I am hoping the Palmer brackets I have on order will help!

I've got an HJC LT-20 and an HJC CL-15. The LT is quieter and runs smaller but buffets more. The CL makes kind of whistling noise when riding with the shield open, which I do quite often on my way home from work. I hear a lot more engine noise from the CL as well. The LT is 5 years old and I'm not all that thrilled with the CL so I think I'll be looking for yet another helmet...

+1 for Scorpion EXO-700. Quiet compared to any HJC products I've worn.

Bell Apex (Kevlar), feels great and keeps road/wind noise down to a minimum.

the kiwi that i picked up in january has no wind noise on the m2 but when i had the tall windscreen on the xt, it was deafening. with the low windscreen on it's quite a bit better but still not as quiet as with the m2. there's just to much turbulance on the uly either way with either windscreen.

From my experience, with either the tall or short screen (in the standard position), the air is still directed at your head.

Just bought an Arai Quantum-2. Best fitting helmet I could find. A tight squeeze to get on but doesn't flop around. No pressure points causing pain and the visor operates well. Not too bad on noise but I'll still have to get a new set of plugs.

+1 on what Strada said. I have a Shoei X-11 which is fairly quiet. As far as fit goes a lot depends on your head shape--round, oval, or square. My wife had a lot of pressure on her forehead from her helmet until she got an Arai for the oval-headed.

I second the EXO-1000. I was a die hard Arai wearer until my last Signet GT. That helmet had so many issues that it wasn't funny. All fixed under warranty, but when it came time to buy another helmet, I wasn't going to shell out over $500 for another Arai.

The Scorpion has been great. I love to ride with a clear shield, and having the internal tinted visor for when I have the sun in my eyes is great. It's quite and air flows smoothly around it.

Only downside is that it's pretty heavy and doesn't vent as well as the Arai.

With my Uly and Tall Buell Windshield, my biggest complaint was noise coming up from the neck. If I wear my full jacket, it is significantly reduced, but its too hot right now for that.

I ordered a Windjammer II from ProLine. About Arrived in 5 business days. It $25 shipped from the UK. Provides a tight seal around the neck, so that you do not get booming in your helmet from turbulent flow around the base of the helmet. I would estimate that it reduces about 75% of the noise. My only complaint is that it gets hotter inside the helmet, since there is less airflow. I have had to ride with the visor cracked. Definetly worth the investment.
