So I did the oil change Saturday (motor and primary) and once again found myself getting frustrated over the fact that the chin faring and micron to chin faring adapters must be removed to gain access to the oil filter. Now, my chin faring was one of those very expensive factory carbon fiber units, and when used with the micron you have to use a combination of spacers and washers to shape the faring so that it does not come in contact with the header or the front tire (front tire clearance did get better with the 08 trees tho). As much as I love the micron, I also get frustrated because it can not be used as a jacking point like the stock muffler can.

While I am installing the new K&N oil filter, I see my old Touratech Bash Plate hanging on the wall of the shop, right next to my dewalt sawszall that was fully charged with a metal blade in it. What are the odds of that?

Drill a couple of holes, fab a solid rear bracket, sip a lil Crown Royall then touch up with some HD flat black exhaust paint.

One question, what are you going to do with the carbon chin fairing?

Treadmarks,

This might be off topic but which Baja lights you have and how did you install them. Now back onto the topic of bash plates. I was thinking about getting the Remus Revolution exhaust for my Uly but was wondering if they made a bash plate for it or would I have to modify the TT one for the stock pipe. It has chin spoiler brackets on it and seems to use the stock chin parts. Any thoughts on this?

Hey City, Thanks man.

Did the wave rotor last month, sorry no update on that....it kinda just happened...Kinda like this weekend, I started out with a plan of changing the oil and doing Fatty's Battery Status Indicator Mod but one thing led to another and well...you know how it goes. I put the wave rotor on with a set of EBC HH sintered pads and that just didn't feel right, way to course and unpredictable..if that makes sense. Slipped on a fresh set of Lyndall golds and all is well. The bike should come with front brakes like this. However, it should be noted that the ultra aggressive EBC HH sintered pads work great on the tiny hidden ducati (brembo) caliper in the rear.

Thanks Froggy,

If you're married, feel free to tell your wife that it's my fault.
It's not that much work to fit it to the micron, more imagination than anything else. I guess that's where the Crown Royall comes in.
If the supplied chin fairing brackets were used to mount the TT bashplate, there would be about two inches of wasted space between the bottom of the micron and the base of the bashplate. By cutting of the top of the sides of the bashplate and attaching it to the welded mounts on the side of the micron it can then be raised and securely fitted to within 1/4" of the compact micron muffler and ground clearance can be gained in the process.

Thanks Tq.

If you're interested for less than half the price of a new unit, PM me to discuss.

Vumelyan,

Thats the DeathRay Brother. Everything you need to know about the DeathRay is here.

I'm not that hip to the remus, but if it has the chin faring mounts then I would expect that the TT bashplate would bolt up. It would have to be a pretty solid mounting point if you wanted to use the bashplate to lift the bike, or if you would expect it to protect the can in case of impact. The micron allows the bashplate to bolt very solid to each side, secure to the clamp in the rear and attach to the engine case in the front.

Skullman online, for an EVO (I think). I used engravers enamel to subdue the teeth and eyes. I dig the way he is peeking around the micron tubes, kinda like a dog with it's head out the window of a speeding truck.

Whooo hoooo

1000 posts.

I'm a Ho!
