I want a Uly. I was amazed at the amount of corrosion underneath my Tiger when I changed the oil the first time this winter. That's one New England winter! I need a bike that I can ride all winter. My BMW looked great after 2 winters. Sooo, how well do Uly's hold up in this regard? |

Get an after market pipe and you should be good to go! |

The muffler rusts. Ceramic coat it and you should be good to go. |

Coat the muffler and grease the axle shafts. Mount tire chains. |

I ride all year long in Denver, maybe not in snow but certainly in the messy roads that come after the snow. I do not have any corrosion (at least that I have seen), but I do clean the bike pretty regularly and I have done all of the things suggested above, except for the chains! |

No corrosion? Steve you are the most anal Uly owner on here (besides Warbaby when he was here). You probably have your bike run through a surgical sterilizer and hermetically sealed after each ride. Your bike's always spotless! |

This is great news. I ride all winter, and, never wash my bike. I need one that can hold up Are the aftermarket mufflers as strong as the standard? What I mean is, can it still be used as a jacking point and be able to bounce off a rock if needed. Now, if someone could just find me a used 08! |

Now, if someone could just find me a used 08! Good luck. How about a used 06 with a pre-coated muffler? (Message edited by jlnance on February 14, 2008) |

Are the aftermarket mufflers as strong as the standard? The only one I know about is the Drummer. It is made from a stock muffler, so I would assume it would be of similar strength. |

A good coat of MUD will ward off the road salt, and cut down on the sand as well.

Stretched a Trojan magnum over my muffler and no rust so far. Yes, the receptacle exploded when I goosed her to redline. |

I am amazed y'all can keep them so clean! Mine is clean now, as I got caught in a downpour last time out. But it will be temporary. Have a half mile of mud road to ride before I get to a resemblance of pavement. Strada, please share more about those fender extensions. DougM |

Hi, Doug, I've been testing a fender extension recently and it sure helps keep the muck off the hard-to-keep-clean front aspect of the engine - so many different parts sitting there corroding away! Anyway, I've perfected the shape, now just waiting to test a high strength rubber-type material - not cheap but good quality. I plan to sell the extension piece for around £8-10 (will be proper die-pressed parts) and will attach to the fender using an industrial double sided bonding tape/pads with optional plastic snap-in rivets should anyone need extra security (if you don't mind drilling holes in the fender). I also want to do the same with the belly pan mudflap which is also very effective. I'll show a few pictures next week. |

It might just be me but your tires look like there on backwards if there the dunlops. |

Hope not! They're the same as in the brochure! I've also just made up a forming tool to mould a front extension piece to fit the fender perfectly. If I get enough interest, I'll make a batch and they should work out cost effective.

Strada - I've been looking for a clutch cable clip like the one you have (to replace the forever breaking wire clip). Where did you get that one? Have tried B&Q, plumbing shops, etc. |

Hi, I was going to offer this part as well but the company I use only supply in Bulk and have a minimum delivery charge. I think I'll get a few now anyway and they will work out around £3 each by the time I add a Jiffy bag and postage (probably save you alot of searching though!). They are stainless steel and rubber lined and fit perfectly. I also searched high and low for one and had to make do with a plastic clip I modded but this is a solid fix. The most cost effective way to do it will be to buy one of my bracket kits and I will include one for an extra £2!! If you want one please let me know. Maybe I should make up a Ulysses 'goody-bag' and include my fender extensions, Mudflap, screen kit and P-clip!!

27k miles, 2-1/2 year, two misadventures and sea spray, the bike developed some spots on the pipes and the muffler is rusted. I believe I can polish the pipes. The paint from the factory on the muffler does not hold up in general. I plan to have both the Uly and M2 mufflers powder coated. After factory stainless exhaust is another good way to resolve the rust issue on the muffler. As for the rest of the bike. Its in great condition. I ride year round and in all weather and the bike shows no signs of corrosion.
Most recent pics of the bike as I fixed a flat rear tire. |

Strada - superb. I was thinking of one of your bracket sets anyway, and that's clinched it. I spent an annoying 2-3 hours looking for a suitable clip... I've seen your kits on ebay - is it easiest if I buy one through there and add £2 for the clip? Sorry for the hijack... |

Hi, Bigkuri, yep, the ebay route would be great as I think it's my last kit available for a week or so. Don't add the funds for the clip because I've offered the kits on here for £47.50 - added the extra to cover the ebay costs. Many thanks Iain (Message edited by Strada on February 16, 2008) |

M2nc, Your colour-matched chin spoiler looks ace,it completes the look in my opinion. I see you've lowered your Uly at the back by means of a low-profile tyre |
