The Scorpion Sync on the rear of my ULy died a premature death last weekend (see http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/284227.html?1181605852). I have a shop manual on order from Andy at Appleton Buell. Since I may have time to change the tire this weekend (before the manual gets here), I would hugely appreciate it if someone could scan the pages for rear wheel removal/reinstallation from their shop manual and e-mail me at: steamloc@earthlink.net Thanks in Advance. | ||

You do not want to follow the manual to change the tire as it probably has you remove the engine first...Here is the easy way:: Jack up the bike..take off the lower belt guard.... Remove the rear brake caliber ..it has two large allen bolts, then hang it with a bungee cord..loosen the two pinch bolts on the swing arm...unscrew and remove the axle and slide the belt off...remove wheel...very simple....when putting wheel back on..slather the axle with anti-seize compound or water proof grease...tighen snugly..loosen then snug up again...technically it is supposed to be 52 ftlbs. Very easy my friend... | ||

Adrian, Thanks for the info. I guess I also ought to hit the bearings with some WD-40 or PB Blaster before I start just in case the axle is already rusted into the bearings. | ||

Not a good idea to spray penetrant or solvent around the bearings. Probably unecessary, so I'd hold off on that. | ||

You do not want to follow the manual to change the tire as it probably has you remove the engine first. Ditto. They have you remove the idler pulley if you follow the manual. Just say no.  Do what Adrian says. |
