Just got back from one of my first real rides since moving out to Washington State. Found a nice tame USFS road , mostly gravel... I don't know about you but but I think this bike rocks!!!! When I hit that first unseen until it's too late chuck hole, I thought, "Oh sh!t, my first real ride and I'm gonna get chucked off the side of the mountain!!!" so I got my butt out of the seat, and, b,bmp, the bike never budged! Repeated this scenario countless times. It finally started to get a little muddy at elevation of about 2500 ft, so I decided not to push my luck while riding alone and came back down. Got into it a little bit then and had a ball. When I got back down, the pavement felt so solid I had even more fun riding the twistys back to town!

For a flat lander used to riding my Road King on the flat straights, this was an eye opener. What other bike can you climb mountain gravel roads on, then turn around and and road race on the pavement? (maybe a Triumph Tiger? maybe a BMW GS, but $5k more) The torque down low is awesome for pulling out of the corners, and there's plenty of power up top when punch it. LIke I said," Woo, Hoo!

That brings me to my question, How does one go about raising the bars about 1.5 - 2.0 inches. I'm long legged and short waisted and cannot stand on the pegs and still reach the bars without pitching my body forward. Even better would be to lower the pegs the same amount, because on real long rides my legs kind of get get cramped up under me.

My only other problem is that I feel sorry for my Uly ( the much faster Orange kind) for having such a lame, unskilled rider aboard it. As I was riding , I just kept thinking ,"This bike will do anything, but I'm too stupid to ride it! Any tips for reading material that will help my poor bike out?

get a set of Renthals ;) I put the Blast bars on my CityX to get up in the saddle over the hoopdiees. I worked great, gave me a better road sit too. If you are ever in the Silverdale, Belfair, Olympic Peninsula area, we have some killer forest roads out here ;) Get on with the bendy and Dirty.

Rox performance makes a set of 2" risers in gun metal gray just for the Uly. I have a set on mine and for me it makes the bike feel a little more like my XR's upright seating position.
