I sat on a Buell XB12TT yesterday and noticed that the seat had an embossed circle picture of a bike with rider and passenger with a line through it. In other words, the TT has no passenger footpegs. Now that is retarded marketing. Maybe you ride 90% of the time by yourself but once in awhile someone else gets on the rear and you sure as hell need passenger pegs for them. The seat, at least in my estimation, was very soft and comfy to sit on. Odd shape though, with the end of it coming to a point. |

This has been gone over before here, but the passenger pegs are an option, or you can just buy the kit separately. Basically just unbolt the number plates, and they bolt right on. |

The embossed circle is there b/c there is no grab strap. Even if it had passenger pegs, to be legal it would need a grab strap. |

Should of put the ULY rear end and seat on it. Next time they'll consult me first. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on March 10, 2007) |

So Buell has a solo option, what's wrong with that? |

If you want to ride 2 up for any distance on a Buell the Ulysses is the only comfortable choice. |

"Even if it had passenger pegs, to be legal it would need a grab strap." Where is a grab strap needed to be legal? I've had several bikes with passenger pegs that had nothing of the sort. I'm also not aware of any legal requirements in any of the jurisdictions that I've worked. I'm far from omnipotent when it comes to traffic law though, so spin me up to date. As far as the # plates go, I think I'd take those puppies off and leave them off anyway. They're hideous IMO. Steve |

You either need a grab strap or some handles for the passenger (like the Uly) for Europe (Japan, Australia, everywhere, etc.). The US DOT only requires footpegs. |

The original post said it was "retarded marketing" I would agree. If its supposed to look like dirt bike a different seat was in order any way. But don't set food in front of a hungry person and not expect then to want to eat it and that's what that seat does. Fortunately the oversized number plates help remove any appetite you might have so the faster you take the plates off and add the rear pegs the better. If a solo seat was intended they should install a cowl like cafe racer. |

As posted elsewhere - I like the look of it. It rides a lot different to a Uly too. The seat is still high (I guess - I have no prob with the Uly) but the pegs are higher. Not nearly as much room for the longer legged. But that has sports trade offs. I tried as hard as I was game and couldn't scrape the pegs on the road. It would need a few laps around a track before I'd come at that game - and even then...They are set mighty high. There is nada wrong with the TT suspension - but it makes you realise how plush and nice the X is. The TT has better stability at speed is the trade off - but it's a much firmer ride. I loved 'assaulting urbanity' on it. The TT, The City X and a Speed Triple are my favourite urban 'weapons' all time now. KTM SM950 would get a look in too. If you don't get the TT - don't worry - there's plenty of us that do. I wouldn't buy one because I have a girl that likes the back seat as much as I like the front and I do like to tour. If I was a solo, town ace - mmmm baby! 13 is me. dd |

The seat is tall but not near as tall as the 06' ULY seat. I was easily flat footed on the TT. Loved the gel like feel of the foam. Same as on the Lightning Long as measured by my glute meter. |

Cool - I'm 6'5" so it's hard for me to judge the flat-foot-ability. I can do all of them quite easy. |

Same here. I plan on trying to take a demo ride on a TT when I'm down at Barber for the Buell track day. |

So exactly what is the TT anyway? A Lightning with Uly suspension? A Uly with a Lightning subframe? Are there any unique to the model parts on it besides number plates? Do I need a TT? Oldguywithmanyquestions |

In Maryland (and from what I understand most other states as well), in order to pass safety inspection a motorcycle with a passenger capacity must have passenger foot supports, and *either* a backrest *or* a grab strap. The driver does not count as either a backrest or a grab strap (I've asked) Hence, a Uly without a grab strap - it's got a backrest. I know...you can fold it down. It's still a speed bump on the way off, that seems to be enough. |

I'm not sure. I haven't a standard lightning to compare it too or it is what it is? dd |

I believe that the TT has unique suspension and subframe/seat. Seat height is similar to the Uly, but not the same. I'm sure there are other parts (fork protectors, number plates, etc.), but the suspension/seat makes it unique from a performance perspective. |

TT seat height is the same as the CityX, frame wheel base is the same as the SS, and the ground clearance is an inch taller than the SS. So it is really either a Uly Jr, or a City+plus . Whatever you want to call it, I have two of them out on the road already, and another on the show room ready to ride |
