Even though it's being a mild winter here so far, I don't seem to get to ride as often now. I usually ride, if not several times every day, at least every other day.

Now it's either too cold and frost coated in the mornings or cold and raining later in the day to get in the mood. However it is nice to get a little break in the action once in a while just to stand back and appreciate what an awesome ride the Ulysses is.

I went five days without rolling my Uly out of the shed last week. Then I had to ride for a business trip Thursday, and today I went out for a ride with a friend for a few hours. Tennessee is pretty good for riding all year, but hit and miss in mid winter.

I'm originally from Northern Pa. I used to park my CB750F for four months every winter and rode snowmobiles, skis, and three wheelers. I don't know how any of you guys in the snow belts handle not having your Uly "fix" on a regular basis. I would have to stud-bolt a set of tires for ice riding.

I guess I'm really bad off needing a "Uly fix" every day, but I can't handle rehab, and my wife doesn't suspect that it has been so habit forming.

Ahhhh......but fear not.....the days are getting longer. MB IV I'm preparing .......now isn't THAT special.....Roman numerals IV for the number 4 is also the abbreviation for intravenous?

I hear ya.

Here in SoCA it's pretty much 365/yr riding weather, but if it's raining I take a cage to work since I leave waaaay early in the a.m.

I don't mind riding in the rain but not to work in the dark. If it clears up though I will run the 35 mi round trip to get the Uly so I can ride it home!

Does that indicate a dependency?

Here in Idaho my Uly sits huddled in the corner of the garage on the battery tender.

I am definitely an addict. It is is hard to wait for the Spring to arrive.

Yeah my Uly has been at the shop for the last few weeks. Even though I am in SoCal I live in the mountains which can make riding interesting. Had snow and ice for a week and lucky for me the Uly was in the shop. It just started getting to the point were there was no ice on the roads and my Uly was still in the shop so I rode my Electra Glide last Thursday. Well the high winds at the bottom of the mountain nearly ran me into the guard rail. Picked up my Uly from the shop Friday and my 3 bag setup and GPS mount were installed plus the shop was finally able to see my starting problem for themselves after having the bike for a couple of weeks so they replaced the battery. I grew up in Western PA so I am familiar with the winter situation for people in that area and sympathize.

four months every winter and rode snowmobiles

That's how I get my fix. Not looking too good up north at the moment tho. I had a trip planned for next week that we're canceling due to poor snow.

I'd ride my Ulysses to work every day, if it weren't for free gas, company car and a 2.5 mile (1 way) commute.
The Uly gets really pissed when ridden such short distances...

We'll be heading to the Rock Store in about an hour.

Good cheer to all

Happy NEW YEAR!!!!

I told them I do not want a company car, as I would rather ride the Uly to work every day. Plus at 44.5 cents a mile for mileage reimbursement I think I am making a little money when I ride the bike. Plus on a good day of going site to site I can put on a good 100 to 200 miles and of course if I can find a particular twisty scenic route there so much the better.

I'm in Cleveland Ohio and I'm still riding. As long as there is no ice on the road, I will be riding. It's cold...way cold, but I don't care. My Olymipia gear and proper layering keeps me plenty warm. Put just under 300 miles on the Uly 12/30. Felt good. The ride to work was a brisk 25F this morning. Glad I have grip heaters, but wish the hand guards covered more (underneith, not the top of my hands.)

Hey Michael, I got my new years day ride in, but I am not able to commute on the Uly. I live in Ashland, about an hour south of Cleveland. I will be riding all year, when I get the chance.
If this is global warming, then I am all for it. Warm is good, cold is bad.

Hey Lorazepam -

You ride a black Uly as well??? Just after I purchased my Uly the wife and I were riding down in the area and passed a Uly siting at a stop light getting onto route 76 this summer (at Route 3 and 76 I think). Time frame was September I believe...

Mine's black with a dark tall screen and factory bags that never come off. I've carried some crazy stuff in them to keep my Uly commutable.

I'll have to start posting my rides on here. A buddy (on a GS) and I tend to ride south plenty. Or send me an email if you would like!

Cheers.

Michael,
I was out on the 30th as well. Rode to work the 27 miles at 6am from Berea to University Heights via 71/90/Chester. It was pretty darn cold but after work at 3 took the long way home past S. E. Harley/Buell and then State 8 Cycles out in Cuyahoga Falls, through Peninsula, Hinckley, then home. Tried my best but could only put on about 100 miles before needing to get home. Gotta say though the ole XB sure runs great in the cold!!! Was afraid my stiff fingers wouldn't hold on when I had the opportunity to crank it up some. Scary Fun!! So when do you wanna get together for a ride?

I ride more in the winter than in the summer. Here in southside Virginia we have mild winters. The Uly has been parked since mid December. An Ultra is my winter ride.

I go out to the frozen garage from time to time just to look, and drool, and check the battery tender, and drool, and cry...

Been having fun in my heavily modded 4Runner, but it ain't the same at all...

I think a NEO uly meet would be great! I have an orange one, it doesnt show mud as bad I lived for years in southern Oh, and I dont think people realize that there are some roads that rival the dragon in the area, and Kentucky has some kick butt riding as well.
I have a place out in the country, and maybe we can get some riders together for a weekend of riding, camping, fishing, beer drinking and campfires when the weather warms.

I got out for about 100 miles on New Years day. Did the same the Friday before when it hit 75 degrees. New Years day was pretty cool riding with temps in the 40s and no sunshine, but what the heck. The guys I was riding with didn't have electrics, so I left mine at home too. Didn't get too cold, but it was a "brisk" ride.

I enjoy living in Tennessee because we get 4 distinct seasons, but the weather is wacky. It is in the 60's here today, but wait a few days and it will be in the 30's. Of course, in the summer, it's just plain hot, humid, and sticky...no way around that.

Hopefully it will be nice this weekend and I'll get to put on some more miles.

Well, I got out on New Years Eve day for a couple of hours. We had glaze ice and hard rain on New Years Day, so I pulled the exhaust off my bike and now it's on its way to Jet-Hot to be coated. I won't be riding for a few weeks. Hopefully, the Turn around time will be quick.

SHHHH!! Don't tell them.

The famous roads in NC and TN have become very crowded. 28 was a fav of mine, last time down there I swear I could have walked down it faster than I rode.

I rode with a couple of my riding buddies on New Years Day. I rode forty miles to meet them for lunch. They rode less than fifteen and five miles respectively.

It was about 45F when I left my place, and about 42F when I got there. That stupid weatherman said it would reach 60F. It was about 39F with a fifteen mph wind when we left the restaurant. There fore we went on a short ride then home. I still got in about a ninety mile ride.

With my electric jacket and gauntlet gloves I ended up cool but not cold.

This bike loves the cold air, it wheelies so easy and pulls so hard. I'd like to see dyno numbers at 40F.

I know the feeling of a Uly fix. I have been without for about 3 weeks now due to a dislocated knee. I have been trying to sit on it but my knee is uncomfortable so rides are a little difficult. I hope by mid week i can get back on. I am going through withdrawl symptoms without my ride.
