There have been several reports of dealers who are less than up to the task. I want to brag on my most recent service experience.

I have been working with Bumpus HD in Murfreesboro and working with Steve (who I believe is the service manager). Steve is a multiple Buell owner and enthusiast. The tech guy that actually works on Buells races them. There is definitely a desire to support Buells. I didn't buy my bike from here, but they have treated me as though I did. As an example, they recommended the sidestand recall over a month ago (before the official announcement was made, BTW) and would let me know when the parts were in. What I didn't know was that each dealership gets an allotment for the bikes they have sold or are currently on the floor plus a few extra. Bumpus set aside some of the extra or me and treated me as a priority service call because of the recall. The dealership I bought the bike from still hasn't called me to even tell me about the recall.

While having the recall done, I had some new tires installed. They didn't give me any crap about where the tires came from or that they weren't the D616 or the Syncs. In fact, they asked me to give them some feedback on how they worked on the bike that they wanted to be able to give impressions to other Uly riders when asked about tires.

I was also having a front end shudder under braking. I suspected a loose head bearing. They tightened the head bearing with no issues. They also noticed that the front brake rotor had "hot spotted" and was warped. They replaced the front rotor and brake pads under warranty.

I have also noticed that one of the ends of the throttle cable where it attaches to the handlebar throttle assembly has broken and showed it to Steve. He said, "no problem, I see it" went over to the computer and ordered the part. When it comes in they will replace the defective throttle cable under warranty.

I haven't seen this kind of support with any dealership (car or bike) and have been very impressed. The Service Dept at Bumpus has earned my business!

Good on ya' for giving credit where credit is due!

Man, what I wouldn't give for a service department that could come even remotely close to that kind of service.

I'm jealous!

Yea, Bumpas is where I bought my bike and have been impressed with their level of service also. From purchase to service they have been first rate. Not only is the service manager a Buell fan and owner, so is the owner, Tom Bumpas. My Uly was originally his and it was the only black one they had or would have in before I went to Daytona this year, so he gave it up to me. They have been friendly and attentive to my concerns. The Buell parts section could be better but I am also realistic. I have seen the same things hanging on the wall since I bought my bike and almost nothing has sold. Still a good place to do business with.

FB,

Cool story. I'm actually in Murfreesboro this weekend getting my daughter settled in at MSTU. My son and I stopped by Bumpus this morning. I was impressed that they actually had some Buell accessories and clothing besides having several Buell motorcycles in stock. Nice to know they're a real Buell dealer.

They are generally lacking in the Buell accessory department, but that's ok. Having 4 styles of hats, two sizes of patches, two types of gloves, two Buell helmets, three T-Shirt styles, and a Buell Jacket, they have 14 times as many Buell items on the floor as most places. They only stock what they can sell.

I am worried more about the bike than I am about what T-Shirt I am wearing. Unless I am with the bike, few people know what Buell means anyway.

I would just like to see Bumpus reap the rewards of being interested in a bike that everyone else has seen fit to shun. I love that Cool Springs ditched their Buell program at the end of 2004 just before the XB12X came out.

I feel that Bumpus supports Buell because the believe in the product. So many dealerships carried Buell only to increase their other (HD) bike allotment and it shows in their sales and especially in their service area.

Bumpus seems to truly care about those rabid psycho Kool-Aiders that are us Buell riders.

Yep, I agree. They treated me golden and I have several parts on order. The owner, Tom Bumpus, took a Uly to Barber about 3 weeks ago with track tires and the hard bags removed. He (and other staffers) raved about how well it handled on track. That's consistent with my recent experience at Deal's Gap on new Scorpions. It's a fine dealership.

Sound Uly (Ron),
I've had good results with Dtwn. H/D-Buell in Tukwilla. Kevin in the service area is their Buell tech and we've spent some time talking Buell. He's very knowledgeable and freindly. I've also had some service work done and they never question me on my riding habits. (even though they probally should!!) I've hed them fix blown fork seals, a broken drive belt, and a number of other problems with no questions asked. All under warranty. They even zero my TPS for less than an hours labor. I'm very satisified with their work.

FYI - I have had excellent results with Paradise Harley-Davidson Buell near Portland Oregon. Excellent service department who has always treated me right.
