As some of you may already know, my side stand bolts broke and the bike fell over. Luckily nothing or no one was near by as the bike hit the deck, and while all the damage was repaired under warranty, I find it difficult to shake the uneasy feeling I have that it might happen again (unless there is a bolt upgrade planned for the recall). So in an effort to help reduce the stress, and hopefully prolong the life of the hardware involved, I went ahead and bought myself a Condor PitStop stand for the bike. I'd actually wanted one ever since I'd first seen them at the IMS show. I guess the side stand issue made it easier for me to sell the idea to the wife. Anyway, it arrived via UPS on Monday. This thing is sweet. It is very well made and it works great. I can now just ride the bike straight into the garage, onto the stand, and hop off. As well as saving space in my garage (with the bike upright) I think it will be especially useful for doing oil changes, washing the bike, and it will definitely make life easier when putting a bike on the back of the truck. If it wasn't for the price, I'd probably by another two more of these stands - one for each bike. Cheers -Jack |

Hi Jack, How stable is it? Could someone bump into the bike and knock it over in the garage? Jim in Santa Barbara |

I like it - what's the price? On a slightly different note - how do you like the Conti's? Mine just showed up yesterday and I haven't mounted them yet. |

Hey Jim, You can rock the bike quite a bit while it's in the stand and it will return to it's upright position. The friction of the tyre in the cradle kinda slows things down quite a bit. It would take a reasonable bump to knock it out of the stand. From their site; "The stand is a fully adjustable wheel locking system capable of accommodating front and rear wheel sizes from 14-22"/ 80-230W." "...accommodates bikes up to 3000 lbs., folds down for easy storage and weighs only 21+ lbs." Price is around $240 - although I think you can get them a little cheaper at the IMS show. I have no affiliation with the company, just happy with the product. Cheers -Jack |

I've had one of these for awhile. Makes loading/tieing down a snap. VERY sturdy. The only issue with using it for oil changes is that it's very hard to get at the front lower fairing bolts when the wheel is straight forward. |

Nice stand Jack. I have one that's home made. Built from the dimensions of a Condor. One more idea for the stand. I have used mine to remove the wheels. Place front wheel on stand and jack under exhaust rear to remove rear wheel. Or rear wheel on stand and jack from front of exhaust to get front wheel off ground. Mark |

Okay, I just ordered one. Since I have 3 cars and 2 motorcycles in the garage it gets crowded. I think I will place this "downhill" near the exit to the garage, back the bike in then roll it forward into the unit. This should work well from a space saving standpoint and if anything gravity will help keep the bike in place. Good idea, Jack. Jim in SB |

I've been using a similar product from Baxley for a couple years and absolutely love it. http://www.baxleycompanies.com/Sportchock.html I used to keep my Aprilia parked on it in the garage (when the stand wasn't in the trailer) but with the whole Uly sidestand issue I now keep the Uly on it instead. I've actually tried rocking the bike over on this thing and it seems really well planted (maybe a running tackle would work ) The Baxley version appears to have more surface area gripping the tire, but it isn't as adjustable (at least not the model I bought) - although I really like the crinkle finish better. I have no affiliation with this company either - just another happy customer... |

I'll second the Baxley Sport Chock.. I am very happy with mine, it is specifically designed for a 17 inch wheel. Not a great pic but you get the idea There are a few more pics here if you are interested http://gamdh.smugmug.com/gallery/1251050/1/74005019 (Message edited by gamdh on July 26, 2006) |

I purchased one of these Condor stands at my local cycle dealer last Saturday and it works great. http://condor-lift.com/ |

The Condor guys are at the Cinci show every year. They have a M2 that they literally get rolling and let it go about 4-6 ft into the stand by itself. Nice, but fairly salty $$$. I choked on the dealer price. |

I passed on the Baxley for one reason, the front of the stand is a few inches forward of the front of the wheel of the bike. The Condor is nearly flush. For the garage it's no issue. In the back of the pickup it can mean the difference between the rear wheel being on the bed or the tailgate. |

LOL, I have a Condor stand myself! One day while washing the bike I had to get a neighbor to help me get the bike back off of the stand. LOL Don't worry about the bike falling over, just make sure you have a non slick surface (not wet cement) before you try to take the bike out. Love the stand! |
