I had my Arai helmet damaged by the heat that was built up under the tail section. I locked my helmet up after a 150 mile ride without thinkin about all the heat under the tail section. I did place a call in to Buell tech services about it.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I use the helmet lock when out and about. I have not experienced the problem but normally only riding about 10 - 20 miles at a time. Helmet normally goes with me after I get off long rides.

Do you guys have any trouble getting the helmet to actually fit onto the lock? It's such a battle with mine every time that I've pretty much given up on using it. Helmet is an Arai Quantum, which isn't unusually large or bulky.

Same. Never use it. Helmet fits in all three bags, so don't bother.

My KBC VR1 Euro will BARELY fit on the lock, but it's so tight I'm unable to turn and remove the key. An extender ($6 for two at CycleGear) solved the problem, but I've always worried about the heat coming off the engine, so I've never really used it. Now it seems like my concern may be justified...

Yes, it's nearly as useless as the one on my old Honda VTX1300. I've used it a couple of times, with much fumbling. HJC flip face helmet.

I thought it was just me, since this is the first bike I ever owned with a helmet lock.
I tried the helmet lock once and couldn't figure it out. I have a HJC flip full helmet.

I use it once in awhile but it only works if the helmet is open to a rain shower. Won't work the other way. Not user friendly at all.

I have a scorpion and it seems to fit ok. It did take some time getting used to it. The only time I really use it is if the bags are full from my shopping.
