Well, cooling fan is not working and blowing fuses again. Called the dealer and they said to get there first thing Saturday morning. When I picked it up last time, I asked the service adviser if he could ask the technician where the shorted wire was. When he brought my bike around he said (and I quote), "The technician said don't worry, you don't need to know, it will never happen again." Famous last words.

Looking on the bright side, maybe I will get another free bike wash out of this.

What fuse keeps blowing? It is not a relay?

IF the fan itself is dying, it could blow the fuse. I bet the guy who worked on it half fast it. It sucks that folks working on the bikes, dont treat them like their own.

No, not the relay. The 10amp fuse in the fuse box.

According to the wiring diagram the yellow/brown wire leading from the fuse box to the fan may have a short or there is a problem with the fan unit itself. If the fan is pulling 12 amps on a 10 amp fuse then something is wrong with the fan. One other long shot: Check the battery and other ground wires for a good connection. It appears that this is a switched ground system through the ECM which could have back voltage if a poor ground exists and there are parallel loads; however according to the diagram this should not be the case. The black/orange wire goes straight to the ECM from the fan. I do not know what happens in the ECM.

Took it in today. The fan is bad. They have to order one in.

I took advantage of the opportunity to rent an Electra Glide Classic for the weekend for 1/2 price. Man, is this thing big. Nice riding at a relaxed pace w/ stereo turned up. It put me in a totally different state of mind. When I'm on my Buell I ride much more aggressively.

I ordered an extra fan to keep under the seat just in case. Thanks for the heads up. Enjoy the Bagger, after a couple of days you will really like it. It is a great cold weather bike!

It is a great cold weather bike!

Yeah...it was in the 80's today and I was pretty hot on it. With that big barn door sized fairing/windshield, I left my chin bar up on my modular helmet. It was fun today, but I'll be glad when I get my Uly back. I miss the acceleration and hooligan factor.

Yep, I got hooked on an E-Glide in 1998 when I rented one for two days. I now have 86,000 miles on the '99 that I bought shortly there after. Fabulous touring bike, big and impressive on the road or in a parking lot. It will get you there and back comfortably. I really enjoy my Ulysses because I can really RIDE it. An experience that I missed since my dirt bike and Sportster days. However, since I've had the Ulysses I actually enjoy the Electra-Glide more than before. It'll still be my long haul bike of choice (except for riding to the Homecoming).

It's like the new joy of riding the Uly has overflowed and enhanced my experience of motorcycle riding in general.

Do I sound like a Buell ad?

Don't ride the E-Glide too long, you might get hooked.

It takes a couple of days getting use to the tonnage of the Electroglide but after you get over that it is a very maneuverable bike. It has a great road presence. I would not be without mine. If you like to ride year round the ultra is the way to go. The lowers come off easy for the warm weather.

One nice thing about the Electraglide is that it handles real well. I can low speed it in tight areas way better than the ULY. The wind protection is superior also. I've got 42,000+ plus on mine. The ULY is very fun though and I find that I prefer it for blasting around town. I've taken no trips on it as yet.

Well, I put around 450 miles on the ElectraGlide over the weekend. It was fun, but I have no problems taking it back. I like the seating position of the Uly better. I actually think the seat was too soft on the ElectraGlide. My wife did about 250 miles with me today and said she definitely prefers the Uly. She also mentioned she likes sitting up nice and high on the Uly.

On the positive side, I wish the Uly had the transmission of the ElectraGlide. First is very low and you are able to crawl along at 10-15 mph without having to slip the clutch. Also, 5th felt like an overdrive. I was able to cruise along at 2500 rpms which equated to around 60 mph.
