After spending the last couple of months researching Bikes here and on ADV rider I'm very close to deciding on the Uly. This is my first post here. First off I am 6'7" and I'm all arms and legs to boot. Is there any one else out there in the same boat? Do your knees want to ride up and out on the frame pucks or do they tuck in behind them as they are supposed to. Is the Uly as famously tall from seat to pegs as it is from seat to ground? Are there aftermarket pegs available that mount in a lower position? And as far as dealers go, does anyone have any experience with any dealers anywhere near south eastern Idaho? Am I crazy for thinking it might be a good idea to go to DaveS's ride to the U.P. Uly promotion. That's probably close to 2000 miles away! Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated! |

Brian, I am flying up (and riding back)from Orlando to take advantage of Daves's ULY promotion. I consider it a chance to get a great bike from a guy/dealership that will have it set up correctly and fully supports Buells. In addition, the other activities included should make it a memorable vacation too. How can you go wrong with that? Hope to see you there. Can't help you with your seating/fitment questions. Frank |

Just my 2 cents. If a guy is going to ride a new bike from Wisconsin to his home many states away he should get an oil change thrown in the deal before leaving Wisconsin. Motoman and others recommend an oil change after the first 50 miles to clear out the metal particles. This would seem like a reasonable thing to do, don't you guys agree? |

I would say it was the least any dealer with any kind of gump should do. Yes I agree. I think anyone driving through Wisconsin should also be entitled to a free oil change. I can hardly wait till they make this law in Wisconsin. |

Glider, I was planning on changing my engine oil/primary fluid either after the factory/UP rides in WI or somewhere else on the way home. I don't relish putting 1300 + miles on the original fluids either. Then when I get back to Orl change them again and get the timing, TPS and primary chain checked too. Sound like a plan? Solarbri I'm 6'-5", 265 lbs, 36+" inseam, and find the Uly perfect, after 30+ years of riding, on damn near everything, this is the bike that's built for tall folks. I took a 1.5 hr. ride and fell. I've been riding gs's, xr's for years (just ask around at Zeitgeist) trying to find a solution - but the trick was always a hot street bike, that was high enough, but could go offroad, at least a fair measure, oh, and tour. My Uly will arrive at the end of December. Oh Boy!! |
