anyone know what the approved lubrication for the Uly cables is? and how/how often is it done? I've never done this on any of my previous (jap) bikes. |

Both of those details are in the manual. I don't have mine with me---Got my Uly yesterday---or I'd tell ya. I don't imagine you'd go wrong with any quality cable lube (like Zep) and, iirc, it was at the 1,000 mile service and every 5,000 mile service thereafter. |

Ok here it is right out of the manual: Lubit-8 Tufoil chain and cable lube. Part no: 94968-85TV. Don't use anything else or your authorized dealer will give you the stink eyeHA! |

CLP (Cleaner-Lubricant-Preservative, available at any gun shop and some auto stores) is a lubricant with powdered Teflon and some other additives in suspension it it (shake it up first). It is the perfect mechanical device cleaner/lubricant/long term storage stuff. If you dribble a few drops of that down a clutch cable some of it will dribble out the other end before too long and a lot of dirt and old grease will come with it. It leaves the cable well coated and the Teflon provides lube for the cable as it works. Jack |
