Hey All,
Just waiting until the Uly gets here.
But have a question for current owners.

Can the Ulysses charging system (494W) handle the load of a set of driving lights (100W total max)?

It's dark when I leave for work and some extra light to help the low beam may be a wise idea.
The stock lights, computer, fuel injection, etc loads it some, guess I'm wondering if there's enough left to run a set of lights?

Cheers

same charging system as the xb12, which will run an electric vest, heated grips, and a pair of 55 watt PIAA driving lights for 24 hours straight (stopped for fuel a few times)

Fullpower,
Is your front isolator and front exhaust okay?
Could just be the photo.

i should also note here, at the risk of being redirected to the KV section, that i have installed and am very pleased with an HID conversion arc lamp, with ballast and ignitor in the low beam housing. the HID makes about 3 times as much light as the H7 hi beam. very effective lighting. highly recommend the installation.

ya know, i have a spare isolator in box, think i should change it? not getting any vibes, what else do i look for?
i did actually have the isolator off a few thousand miles ago, had to rethread the hole where the clutch cable clamp screw goes.

Fullpower,

Thanks. Don't know if the HID stuff fits the budget, but it's nice to know it can be done on the XB12 series. Maybe a set of <100W driving lights would get me started, and see how well they light up the sides of the roads (sneaky deer just love hiding along the side to jump out at the wrong time :-)

Cheers

One of the XB folks will have to peek at it, just looked like it was a little past appearing normal.

Fullpower; I have heard rumors (nothing more) that some HID bulbs will generate enough heat to melt headlight housings. How have you been doing so far?

not exactly sure, been driving for a looooong time now - but I recall the manual saying max 120watt (might be higher) load? so that should be fine.

I remember adding up the requiremnets for a vest, pants, gloves and feet from gerbings and the Uly can handle that just fine.

Branebanger,

Good point. I also have gerbing electrics. My Road Glide puts off enough heat to keep the legs warm,
so I've just been running the jacket liner and gloves, and will consider them when deciding on lights.
