Seems there's a few of us here that picked up this pipe lately so I thought I'd share. I've got about 200 miles on mine, and already I noticed a stress fracture starting on one of the welds on the chin spoiler mount. It was starting to fracture at the verticle gusset, where it attaches to the mount body. It 1/8" sheet metal I scabbed to the center gusset and onto the bottom of the chin fairing mount. I also copied the D&D chin fairing mount and bent the sides to add some rigidity. I plan to touch up the areas with some high temp header paint. This should be fine in that none of these areas are visible while on the bike. Also note that I added a gusset to the right side rear fairing mount. While riding, I noticed that the fairing was vibrating back and forth a lot, and I envisioned having some problems here too, so what the hell. It can't hurt. \image |

they don't come with baffles included, that's why they're charging you fifty bucks more... I didn't get one, but I probably will. |

it's 1/8" plate, and yes it's TIG welded. check out Misato's website for pics. These are the only one's I've seen. http://www.xb9s.com/pics/pipe-broke/pages/DSC05916.htm http://www.xb9s.com/pics/pipe-broke/pages/DSC05919.htm http://www.xb9s.com/pics/pipe-broke/pages/DSC05920.htm |

I think the original material it's fabricated with is 22ga sheetmetal. It's thin for sure. I wanted some mass, so I went with the heavy gauge stuff. |

Hmmm , looks like they broke in two different locations up front and half way down the pipe in another area hard to tell from his pictures, I wonder if he had any others, or anyone else out there got any... You look like you got all the bases covered and thats probally the best to do , just reweld all areas, and brackets .. |

Shazam, are those on a Xb or?? And was it just the front mount that broke, where the front band goes around and mounts to the front bolt to the engine? |

I caught mine early.. a few more miles and it would have looked like shazam's the second time around I ran a new 'old' pipe for 6 months with no chin fairing and rubber srtips between the lower mounts and the frame. seemed to help, or maybe it was still a matter of time. I have the new version now and will get it mounted up in the next couple of weeks. The megaphone is alot shorter than the old one.. I'm not running a fairing and the lower mounts are way cleaner on the new pipe. it fits my bike better (looks wise..) |

I've got one on a 12. It broke in less than a week, Same spot. I'll be removing it this weekend and re-welding some good metal onto it... I may also pick up an aftermarket slipon and attach that. That would also help with the reversion problem. |

Hogs, mounted on an XB9R.... That's the only location of any cracking on the set I had. Though when that location goes (which for me, happened a long ways from home) you have a lot of pipe hanging from the heads.... This failure on my bike caused some other problems. most related to the hundred miles of riding I had to do with it flopping around. The worst part was shipping it back to Force on Oct 1, 2003 and not recieving anything from them including phone calls until the new pipe arrived Sept. 12 '04 or there abouts. |

This pic shows where mine has broken... the light blue lines. I think the safest thing for me to do ATM would be to remove the chin spoiler until I can get it welded up this weekend. I think I am going to take some 1/8" thick strips of aluminum and sandwich them onto the front and back covering as much of the center portion as I can. I'll also run a gusset along the side of the front triangular support. I don't know if the rest of you have noticed it (or if it does it on your installation) but the chin spoiler on mine rubs the oil filter and one of the oil lines on one side. On the other, it rubs my clutch cable. I'll take some sand paper and sand the spoiler down to get some clearance. |

I think I'm still in the market for a pipe . I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this one. I'll not buy anything from Force from here on out. Knowing now that it was indeed NOT the way Misato installed his pipe (because it has turned out to be VERY common), and knowing just how bad Force's support is... They'll get none of my money. All I can do is apologize for having a company that is seemingly not so good of a business in Arizona. |

I'm thinking I may go with a Becin... It seems to be constructed a LOT better and from looking at it, I'm thinking it may not have the nasty reversion either... |

ok i got a question...WHY THE HELL would you buy a force pipe and then put a baffle in it??? isn't that mostly the point of getting one? for the sound? get a race pipe if you want something muffled. duh... |

Out of curiosity, is that system Stainless Steel, or ( Chromed ) mild steel? |

here's some after pics of the piece painted w/ 1200* header paint. I think it turned out quite nice. It matches almost perfectly, you can hardly tell the difference. I didn't install it this afternoon... I put the D&D on the Force header. We'll see how this combo does.
