Took me a while to figure out what tool to use for the front spark plug. I just wanted to document what worked excellent for me.... The small black piece is called a "socket cap" an allows you to turn the socket with a lower profile ratcheting wrench. https://www.harborfreight.com/3-piece-square-drive-socket-caps-67011.html

PS--This tool allows for removal of the front spark plug WITHOUT rotating the motor. |

Can we get any more advice on how you did your spark plug or valve adjustment without rotating the engine? |

You have to rotate the engine to do the valve adjustment, but you can replace the front spark plug without rotating the engine. |

There are threads and youtube vids (probably most helpful) on the process to remove the front spark plug without rotating the engine. There is also a thread that refers to this tool sans pics...so I am not the originator of this tool. Basically you have to remove the airbox and the airbox base/rubber throttle body gasket to gain access to the front spark plug. By far the most difficult part for me was getting the coil tube back in the hole. I used some grease and lots of swear words, and it finally dropped in after several attempts. |
