I put my clutch cable back on and wasnt even tightening it down hard, and noticed the thread stripped... this is very annoying. I have a new primary cover en route since I am biking across country in two weeks, but wanted to ask... Has anyone had this happen? Is there a way to fix it? I would like to salvage the old one if I can and make it a spare since Buell service and parts are hard to come by. Thanks for the help! |

Most of the time the threaded part of the clutch cable snaps off in the primary cover when tightend to much. Only option is to go for a time sert and repair it like that. http://www.timesert.com/html/misc.html Or a helicoil ,but maybe that's going to leak to much. |

Thanks! I am taking a bike trip next week so ordered a new primary cover to be safe... Ill update with the fix when I get it worked out. I think helicoil or that timesert may work if I use that permanent green locktite on it, let it set up and then thread the cable into it. Thanks again brother! |
