Hello all, I'm excited about picking up a 2006 Ulysses tomorrow, it needs a windscreen, anyone else have one to spare? (Second windscreen post in a row...) Thanks much for any help! |

Picked up the Ulysses, my first non-faired bike. I can't wait until this weather changes, this will be my fair weather ride. Still looking for a used windscreen if someone has one to part with. Thanks much! |

Several on ebay now. Kinda pricey for a clear piece of plastic, but pretty cheap for a motorcycle part, especially part of a fairing, so I suppose it's all about perspective. Do you want some perspective on the short versus tall screens? They make a lot more difference then you would think. Anybody tried the zero gravity stock height looking screen? They are on ebay and look nice for a fair price. Do they act like the short stock screen? Or act differently? |

Any info or assistance is greatly appreciated. I'm without internet and have limited data for research. I am curious of the difference in screen size and performance. I'm used to half/full faired bikes with touring windscreens on my last two bikes of 59,000+ miles, finally getting something different. I did see the eBay listings and hoped maybe I can find a scratch and dent deal from somebody on the forum. Otherwise I thought of cutting something out myself if I can make the time to pull that off. It probably won't be as nice but it could potentially work... |

I can't remember if the stock screen is a simple curve, or more of a bowl. If it's a simple curve it might not be that bad to fabricate. At $69 or so current on eBay, it wouldn't be bad to just buy either. That's not much for a motorcycle windshield. For my 2007 XB12X, I *hated* the tall screen. It moved wind buffeting from my torso, where I didn't mind it, to my forehead, where I HATED it. The stock short screen was much better. For my 2008 XB12XT, the tall screen was actually more tolerable, especially with the laminar lip windshield windshield. It did keep a lot more wind and rain off of me, giving me maybe another 5 minutes in a rain before I got soaked, and keeping me a little warmer. But not really a difference with a distinction in the whole scope of things. It also buffeted my head, though not nearly as bad as the X setup. So I still switched it and didn't like it, but it wasn't intolerable. The zero gravity screens on EBay look like the short screen, but may have a different shape (or may not). That's why I was asking. I have chewed up one for my salvage 2007 XB12X, that I might polish up some and reuse, or might replace, I've been stalking a cheap one for a while and haven't seen one. |

I ended up buying a used w.s. from eBay. Looks to be the zero gravity touring, I grabbed it because it had the mounting tabs included as well. I'll see how it performs in a week or so... |
