The wind blew my 1996 S2 off the sidestand and damaged the front fairing so I got a replacement one off Ebay. It was in great shape and even the correct color. The only problem I had putting it on is that the windshield did not fit. The two bottom holes on my original fairing were about 41/2 inches apart and the replacement distance was about 4 inches. The fairing did go on but one of the bottom fasteners did not line up by about 1/2 inch. Is there that much variance with the 95/96 stock front fairings? Or could the fairings be from different years? I was thinking about ordering an aftermarket fairing but I am a little concerned that it would not line up either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks......Ken |

Enough variance in some that most aftermarket shields are not pre-drilled. I think it was a select few like that though because I traded for a stock winshield that bolted up fine to my fairing. |

Did the fairing bracket get damaged? Even if it didn't, you can usually manipulate the bracket to fit a different fairing. |

Screamer - I am sorry, I miss typed. I was thinking about an aftermarket windshield, the fairing itself fits fine, the brackets were not damaged. I was just very surprised that the windshield did not line up. The old and the replacement fairings are original equipment and the windshield is original equipment also. I dont know why it is 1/2 inch out on one of the lower screws. Ken |

Handbuilt, baby. I want to say Gustafsson was an original supplier, and even they don't / (maybe didn't?) pre-drill the screens. I got a +4 from them years ago and it came with a drill bit. |
