I have yet to ride my Uly after dark...but i understand the stock headlights are lacking. What kind of auxiliary lighting are you guys running? I want something to really light up the road when theres no cars in front of me of course. I like the look of the PIAA 1100s but hate to spend so much loot. Any cheaper brands worth looking at? |

Running the high and low beams together is definitely the cheapest. Try it by toggling your high beam switch half way. Both bulbs are the same, H7. The stockers last a fair bit longer than some of the brighter replacements. A lot of the guys really like the HID set ups. |

I ride half my time at midnight over the Appalachian trail to and from work. I mounted these puppies http://www.twistedthrottle.com/denali-xtreme-spot- dual-intensity-led-headlight-kit-with-5-amp-fuse Aiming is critical but I can see deer on the road over 100 yards out. Many will complain about these but when aimed properly I get few flashes from oncoming traffic when on low, but High is blinding. I'll try to get a picture up later this week when I get a chance. Back in the cage at this time due to more snow coming in. |

Afsoc, pictures would be great. I ride to work at 4:00AM the prime vehicular deer hunting hour. Did you get the universal mounting kit? |

^+1 on posting pictures. A friend has killed more deer with his truck this year than his deer rifle. |

Ray, Here are a couple threads that show how I did mine for real cheap and gives great light output. Still running strong http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/475835.html http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/492350.html And sure enough Walmart still has them http://www.walmart.com/ip/Optronics-55w-Pair-Driving-Light-Kit/16680058 (Message edited by firstbatch on March 24, 2014) |

Rayycc1, as any have stated... there are cheaper alternatives out there. I wanted something that had been reviewed and that I could see pictures of performance and saw these on http://www.webbikeworld.com/ I have included pictures of my install. I wanted them as high as possible to reach out further and give less bleedover into the oncoming traffic. My setup does well and the only issue I have is if I ride up from behind someone with the DX Extreme's on I blind those in front of me. So I must turn them off when behind others. I run the D2 Dual lamps at all times. The BikeVis pods that are on top of the DX Extremes are run only during daylight since they are 100 lumen flashing LEDs. The best upgrade you can do for least cost is the dual light mod running both beams at the same time....

running both headlights by putting the switch in the middle? does this ever cook the wiring? or is there some sort of mod you guys are doing to run them both at the same time? |

I ran them by toggling that way for a couple of years. Then I was into the wiring for adding some marker lights one weekend where I went ahead and wired them directly. I cannot recall the exact directions, but it should be in the Knowledge Vault at the top of the opening page. |

Cheap lights are just that - cheap. You get what you pay for. For the both-lights-on mod, I want to say you take the headlight side of the lighting connector, and swap the black and yellow wires. I did it when I put an HID in my low beam, so it stays on when I toggle the high beam. I also have cheap aux lights - and yes, I got what I paid for. Inaccurate, uneven beam spread that simply throws a lot of light downrange and blinds anyone within range. So, I toggled them to come on with my high beam only. Not ideal, but good enough for now. Eventually I'm going to source some LED's; I put a pair of 10w LEDs on my truck as aux backup lights and love them, but they have a super-wide flood beam and I already have that problem...

The both lights on is swap red and yellow I started by doing a splice on the bike side cause I couldn't get the pins out. Then I finally bought a whole new connector for 4$ and made it look a lot cleaner |

After a lot of research I decided to go with these lights...The folks at ADV rave about them! http://stores.advmonster.com/m50-led-off-road-spot -light/ and http://stores.advmonster.com/model-60-led-off-road -flood-light/ 2700 lumins for the spot and 3600 for the flood. Deer will be vaporized if they step out in my path ha ha. |

Not sure of the point of the Flood... But be sure to get them aimed real well... Took me about a week to get mine just right because the lights beam angle changes with my large ass on the seat.... They make spot and flood of the ones I have but I do not think they are quite as high as 2600 claimed lumen, but I wanted a reflector that had a proven beam. Are you going to run separate switches for both? |

A couple of weeks ago mounted aux lights and total was $150 with a dedicated wiring harness. 4 LED 10w, 8 degree spot & 20 degree flood. Not on the Uly but you get the point. Just Headlights LEDs On
