Early 08 1125r had different rear shocks than later models.. The part numbers are : 1. K0140.1AMA for early 08' 1125r 2. K0140.1AMB for later models Also the suspension settings recommended in the owner's manual are different for the 2 shocks... Are the spring rates in these shocks different ? Are the dampings different ? The early models were supposed to have very stiff suspensions ...... My 1125r has the later shock , K0140.1AMB..... If the earlier models have a shock with a stiffer spring I would like to buy one from ebay and give it a try .. It might suit my aggresive riding style better..... Any info on this ?? I don't have the answer, but you can easily change out the spring and get the right one, but you'd be better off upgrading to a better rear shock anyway. Stocker isn't the best Source for new rear spring: http://racetech.com/ProductSearch/2/Buell/1125R/2008-09 (Message edited by sprintst on May 27, 2015) |

These guys know what you are wanting. They breathe suspensions and prove it at the track. Easy to work with. My CR and S1 have been happy for years with: http://gpsuspension.com/ |

I'm prone to upgrading shocks on my bikes (my '05 Speed Triple got resprung and revalved by Traxxion, so did my '91 CBR 600F2, and my '14 Vmax will be getting its shock sent in, once I figure out how to remove it) but the stock shock on my '08 1125R has proved to feel sufficiently firm in both damping and spring rate. My bike has ~12K miles on it and I haven't noticed any degradation in damping. What do you have your damping and preload set at now? What specifically do you not like about the handling in its current state? |

I also like the way the rear shock works.... Also in my XB12R , I thought the rear Showa shock to be excellent.... My settings are.. Preload is set to 7 out of 9 Compression is 15 clicks from maximum Rebound 0.625 turns out from maximum I was thinking of trying setting the preload to 8 out of 9 to see how the bike turns... I also thought that if the early 08' models had a different spring rate , i would like to get one on ebay, and trying that too.....and having a spare shock is not a bad idea |
