So hows it been?

The only faults have been a O2 sensor, side stand sensor and front wheel bearings all done under warranty or "good will". And the RH fork dust seal, steering head Earths and the IAT sensor all of which I fixed myself. The battery strap broke.

The belt seems fine (like new) and has not gone slack. The clutch is smooth and very light to use but it may have a Muller on it. The gearbox has got much better with miles and even the change into 1st and 1st to 2nd is good. Its a slick box and almost as good as a Suzy. I get little heat off the bike and (dont know why) much less wind buffeting than the 06 bike. A 100mph cruise is fine. The bike starts a LOT easier than the 06 version.

The engine has got better and makes more power now. It uses about 200ml of oil in 3000 miles. VERY few vibs even cold. Good engine braking and I cant fault the fueling at all even with the Stealth can.

The front end is better than a 06 bike. MPG has got better. 40 mpg (town only) and 50 on a run. The Scorp Syncs have even wear and still have 2mm in the middle front and rear. Handle great but 2CTs will be better. The seat is more comfy now as well.

Mods that do work, for me, well. Duel HID lights and both on high beam fix. Air horn. Bar weights. Better mirrors and front/rear brake pads. Breather re-route. Open air box and better can. Charge monitor. Foam grips. Kriega fork seals. Fork oil upgrade. Piper air filter and FST. Home made clutch span adjustment and rear brake lever extension (big feet). Clutch adjuster boot cable tie off.

The 10 bike still has some "built in" problems though. The wheel valve cores are crap. I have had one go on both bikes. The steering head Earths still go bad and the bolt locking fluid is just a nightmare to deal with. I still get water on my back from the rear wheel. The cable for the parking light is to short.

The bike handles (the best I have ever had at ANY price) like a demon (wet or dry), has a torque band that seems to have no end and is still "going" at 120 mph in 5th. The frame is superb as is the suspension system and are in a class of there own. The front brake is good but could be better though. Easy to maintain, cheap to buy and insure. And I have NEVER had a bike that did more than 5k miles on tires and still be of any use. Even, so I am told but never tried, the pillion seating is great as well.

Its just me but I find this bike a VERY hard act to follow.

Yeah, it's just a shame they don't make them anymore....

When the syncs are done put on some Pirelli Scorpion Trails and drop a XB9 primary in it and really enjoy it!!

"When the syncs are done put on some Pirelli Scorpion Trails". I could but I have a set of 2CTs to go on the bike. My riding is all road work. The front 2CT is more "pointy" so the front end of the bike rolls in faster. The Scorps are a great "all round" tire but if you want to "flick" the bike you need to force the front end more. I had a set of 2CTs on the 06 bike after the Scorps and they really "topped off" all the other good parts of the bike.

XB9 primary. This is an interesting thing but I would need to ride a bike with this first before I did it. Or I might try it if I needed to change the stator out.

I know what you're saying about the "pointy" front tire. The Metzeler R6 was the same way and the Uly loved them! They didn't last very long but boy did it handle. If I ever did a track day I would run them. As far as the XB9 primary I understand your hesitance. I just thought since you do a lot of city riding you would enjoy it. I let Roadkill ride mine at Buelltoberfest and he went home and did his bike. Unless you're into high speeds it really is worth it. My fuel mileage didn't change and the 300 rpm on the highway makes it easy to pass without downshifting. Makes it a point and shoot! Try riding in 4th gear on the highway, it's not exactly the same but close. The best part though is in heavy traffic, not as much clutch slipping in the city.

In the City I would need to slip the clutch for smooth low speed riding, with the 06 bike, otherwise it would "leap" off the throttle or judder at low throttle.

The 10 bike is very much another animal though. Apart from a VERY, VERY slight judder (lugging) you can just "roll on" the throttle from zero in 1st and away it goes. 2nd is no drama either. I find you need to be at 30 mph+ if in 3rd, 40 mph+ in 4th and 50+ in 5th otherwise it starts to "lug" the engine a little. At say 70 mph in 5th and going up hill it still pulls hard and fast. Run it through the gears to 5000rpm and the bike is quick enough. At 6000rpm plus the pace builds real fast and can get a bit scary on the road. Some of this may come from the acceleration enrichment I made to the ECM.

I can not recall all the running points of my old 06 bike but what I do know is I do not need to "change down" at the same points in the rev/gear range. An example would be an overtake at 50mph in 4th. You just "twist and go" and 5th no longer seems like just a "cruise" gear.

I had though about making some adjustments to the ECM but went with Frogs advice and did not. These bikes do not "settle in" before 6000 miles anyway. At the moment I find it very hard to fault the fueling on the 10 bike and the MPG is now close to what the 06 bike was like. About 3 mpg less so about 10 miles on a full tank. No big deal as the fueling on the later bikes is richer and helps the bike run better.

If you have not tried them the 2CTs work great on this bike and last well. They "turn in" fast if you want it, great grip on the edge of the tire, good in the wet, do not square off, good road feel and 7000 miles is the norm.

I can't place the 2CT's. What brand are we talking about? I've run the Michelin PR2s and for street riding they were slower on turn in but they lasted a long time! Just a little more counter steering but the longevity was worth it.
