Sorry I could not find my original thread to add to. I'm apparently not smart enough to navigate this forum. See the link below for info on the first Buell (that I know of) to complete a BDR!! There is a vid of the trip and background info:

I loved it!! That looked like a great trip, thanks for sharing. I would put some fork skins on the front forks when you're riding on that type of roads. I had my trip shortened due to bad fork seals from grit on the back roads. I love that type of riding!

Amazing what some good tires and rider skill can do for a trip!

The Metal Mulisha Handlebar Pad helps too!

BAD ASS!

I would recommend everyone fits a set of these on a Uly. Not cheap but cheaper than fitting new dust seals. Easy to fit.

The outer dust seal is not to good and mine failed. These fixed the problem 100% and no leaks since I fitted them. Do it before the dirt damages your oil seal though.

If you are "on the Trail" and have a leak remove the side section of the front mudguard, drop the dust seal and run a piece of thin non-tearing plastic under the oil seal. If using photo film cut the teath/sprocket edge off the film first. Re-fit the dust seal and wrap a plastic bag around the fork seal area and fix with cable ties, tape, string, etc. Re fit the mudguard and it will be fine unless the oil seal IS damaged. Worked for me.

These are just made of 3mm Neopren sheet with a "silver skin" backing, as on Scuba suits, with a 25mm overlap fixed together with Velcro along the length. You do not need to use the upper cable tie mounts either.

Hey Marc(uly_man).. cool product! I'm guessing they must slide down over the tube from the top.. or will they stretch enough to come up from the bottom over the lower legs?

They "wrap around" the forks and fix with Velcro. Takes 10 mins to do.

gsxr1k, I wasn't able to watch your vid (my issue). Was the WABDR route all gravel? What was the worst terrain you encountered? I live near Camas and would like to do some of the WABDR routes.
