Last year I purchased a EBR race ecm for my 2009 UlyXT. I specified that I was running a stock exhaust. I found that when starting the bike, the RPM's would fluctuate wildly until the bike had warmed up. It would sometimes even stall on warm up. The bike also seemed to run hotter with the race ecm and a couple of times stalled while I was riding. I have done a TPS reset many times and the problems persist. Has anyone else had this experience? I am now running the bike with the stock ecm and it actually runs smoother. I have had no problems running the stock ecm. Do you think it is worth contacting Erik Buell Racing to see if this problem can be rectified? |

Your profile says you have both an 08 and 09, I would swap the Race ECM onto your 08 and see if it still is problematic on that bike. The ECM controls your bikes idle, and my theory is that the ECM isn't opening up the valve in the IAC enough, hence your symptoms. The ECM is supposed to automatically compensate for things like gunk building up in the valve, but it sounds like it isn't doing this. It should automatically adjust while the bike is sitting idle. Another thing I would try is letting the bike idle for 10 minutes to give it a chance to readjust, and see if things improve after that. |

I am not running a stock exhaust, but got the Race ECM initially for my '09 XT with a Hawk muffler and didn't experience anything like what you are describing after the TPS reset. My bike seemed smoother and felt cooler. I got it re-flashed when I went to a Drummer SS and the bike still seems to run about the same. I would follow Froggy's recommendations and then contact E.B.R if things aren't making any more sense after. |

The 08, which I no longer have, was an 1125R, so switching ecm's wouldn't work. I did let the bike idle for more than 10 minutes to let the ecm calibrate itself. I've done this on more than one occasion. Everything else on the bike seems to be fine and it runs well with the stock ecm, so I think that the race ecm is the problem. |

Cato, I had problems with my ebr ecm on my 09. My stocker actually ran better than the ebr. I emailed them and they had me send it back to them and they reflashed it. It's been fine since. I would try contacting them and telling them exactly what it's doing or not doing. I have a feeling they will take care of you. |
