Hey, if it's not to late... just wanted to let you know we are heading down in the morning. Thursday morning, that's tomorrow WooHoo! Harv, last year took longer due to the backward 'splash' we did. If you stick to Woodland as the destination it definitely won't take as long as last year did. We are still taking Hwy 9 down to Tacoma, hopefully not so many traffic problems. Ride safe and sane you guys. My cousin was jailed due to excessive speed in Washington State. Ended up costing $6,000 for lawyer fees, etc. We've been damn lucky in the past, but all good things... well you know the saying. Ride safe and see you in Washington!!! Ride on, Lo |

Bob, I just looked up my cost on the parts that are scratched or broken, and it added up to under $1,000 Cdn, including labour and recoating of the ceramic pipes. I think the little X1 held up quite well under the circumstances. Sorry I couldn't be with you all on the ride, but I did have a good, but uneventful, ride up the coast from San Diego - we mixed route 1 with Hwy 101 all the way from L.A. past Seattle. |

Johnboy, glad the damage wasn't too bad. So did you have good weather for the ride? SPLASH wasn't the same without you. We all seem to do better as a collective group of riders instead of zooming all over hell's half acre. Hope we can keep the group together for BorderRaid! I'm heading out of town in a couple of days but want to put the BORDER-RAID buzz in everyone's ear. So far here's the deal: Saturday morning meet in Vancouver and ride to Whistler; meet and greet Saturday night. Ride Day is Sunday from Whistler to Cache Creek (lunch at Horsting Farm) then south toward Sunday evening's destination. Which is the question of the moment; Where should we stay? Osoyoos (as in past years) or Penticton (last year) or where? Let's have some input. I've started a storm-fronts thread here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/67067.html?1090965274 Time for some fun in our big backyard! Ride on, LO |

Just fixin' my damage from SPLASH. Both muffler brackets cracked which left that big race muffler hanging from the header. With that thing vibrating and bouncing around it cracked the header up around the O2 sensor. At present, all the welding is done and I'm waiting for the pipe to be repolished. My headlight is cracked and I'm trying to figure out the most cost effective way to replace it. Stu is on the case and hooked me up with a welder that may even be nearly as good as BOB! OK, that's pushing it but he is pretty good. Should be ready to go next week. Are the local Hooligans ready for a week night road trip to Harrison or the Beer Shrine or some such adventure? Herve |

Border Raid lodging update! Whistler I spoke with the good people at the 'Newly Renovated' Blackcomb Lodge. We've stayed there before and the central location combined with group rates makes this a pretty good hotel. Blackcomb Lodge (located in the central village) 4230 Gateway Drive Whistler Reservations: 1-888-621-1177 or 1-604-932-4155 You must quote “BORDER RAID” when making your reservations to get these rates! Studio Suites, King-Twin split (2 twin beds that can be combined to make a King) + pull out couch & kitchenette. $99.00/night. Studio + Loft Suites, King-Twin split (2 twin beds that can be combined to make a King) + pull out couch and two Twins in loft, with kitchenette. $139.00/night. Penticton It was suggested that we stay at the Penticton Lakeside Resort & Casino in Penticton on the Sunday night. The Penticton Lakeside Resort & Casino is right in the heart of Penticton, and offers one of the areas finest locations. Easy walking to excellent restaurants, pubs and leisure strolls on the lakeshore. Penticton Lakeside Resort & Casino 21 Lakeshore Drive Penticton, B.C. www.pentictonlakesideresort.com Reservations: 1-800-663-9400 or 1-250-493-8221 You must quote “BORDER RAID” when making your reservations to get these rates! Standard room with 2 Queen size beds Parkside $129.00/night Lakeside $139.00/night Parking is available at a rate of $5.00/day per parking spot. There is a new Border Raid route that I will post ASAP. This route will offer a better lunch stop than in previous years as well as a few new roads to discover. The total riding time and distance from Whistler to Penticton should be approx. an hour less than last year. Time measured without mechanical and medical delays. So the actual will be more like 2-3 hours shorter than last year. Stuart is hoping that we are all planning to meet at Deeley’s House of Buell on Saturday afternoon. He has generously offered to provide lunch for all attendees at Deeley’s House of Buell prior to our ride to Whistler. Stuart needs to know if this is the wish of Border Raid participants, so that he can cater the lunch. Please advise. Route details to follow. Cheers FunJimmy |

Loni, looks like we'll probably bunk at the Blackcomb Lodge. Afterall, it is staggering distance from anywhere in the Village! Too bad you won't ride Sunday (AGAIN!) As we don't even get to ride much on Saturday. FunJimmy, I hope you mean Horsting Farms for lunch on Sunday. I've enquired and they will accomodate us. They just need to know time, # of people and that we'll be having sandwiches (soup is also available) They will even reserve our seating in the picnic area out back by the orchard. Sandwiches are only $3.95! It's about 3 km north of Cache Creek. Anyhow, let me know what else is planned. Oh and I guess Penticton IS the last destination then, eh? Ride On, LO |

Sorry Lorraine, we thought your where on holidays when Stu and I spoke about Border Raid. We didn't mean to exclude you. Lunch will be at Horsting Farms (as you requested). Penticton was retained as there where requests to remain there with the hopes of upgrading to the Lakeside Resort. Group rates are about the same as we paid for the Best Western last year. A real bargin considering the resort. This also gets our American friends a little closer to home than Summerland, for Monday. Hope all agree. Cheers FunJimmy |

Lo, Chris and I considering the Penticton Ride on Sunday. All depends on the time off we have. We should know more in a week or so. Thanks Jimmy for posting the #'s. I will call today and make our reservations for Blackcomb. Count us in for lunch at Deeleys. Stu always does a great job. See you soon! Loni |

No worries FJ, I didn't feel unincluded (is that even a word? lol) Just wanted to confirm the Horstings lunch. I'll need a headcount and ETA so they can be forewarned of our arrival. BTW, how long do you think it will take us to ride from Whistler to Hat Creek/Cache Creek? (Assuming we're going that way) Oh yeah, forgot to give the thumbs up for lunch at Deeley's on Saturday - sounds great! Loni, it would be FANTASTIC if you guys could make the entire BorderRaid this year. Afterall it's our last group ride of the season and SPLASH '05 is very, very, very, very far away! It's bad enough that Kimberley and Mike won't be there, but they have a great reason to miss it. Go Cody! Go CodeRed, Go! Ride on, Lo |

Galen, I wish I could hang with you but both my kids are having a birthday party on Friday Night seeing as I won't be around for the Border Raid weekend, as usual. When are you planning on arriving? I'll be at Deeley's for sure - what time? Noonish? Harv |

Lo, I am keeping my fingers crossed that our vacation comes threw. I think it's sad that it's our last ride of the year together. We should plan another in early Oct, meet half way even if for just a overnighter! Loni |

I agree Loni, but it's a busy time of year. School and the weekend activities are in full swing. Although by then my folks should be back in town so if they wouldn't mind helping me out... I guess it's possible and an overnighter is much more feasible. Any suggestions for that? |
