Hello Everyone,

If you are planning on attending the Wildcat Mountain overnight trip with Brew City, please post a message on the board or send me an e-mail so we can get a head count.

Dyna- I talked with FieryXB and we have place to meet. I'll meet you guys there and we'll take some true "backroads" to Utica for lunch. Then thru Starved Rock Park and the curves. I can take you guys back again on the "backroads" to about Huntley.
How's that sound?

Racerx1, you out there? How was you weekend of racing?
You had mentioned being interested about going boating sometime, still up for that? I think I'm getting a cruise together next week thursday, the 29th. I might have additional openings for some of you other folk out there, or we can always plan a different evening to venture out to the open sea: )

M2 had a pretty interesting Vintage bikes went pretty well. Won on the 350 honda on Saturday and was second in 500GP the entire race until I botched the last lap and got 4th. 350 race on Sunday was even more interesting, as my visor wasn't snapped down all the way and i lost my face shield the second lap while leading. Had to run the whole race without a face shield squinting trying to see with my eyes watering! kinda sucked.....led the whole race till the last lap when second place sneaked up on me and passed me on the back straight (I couldn't look back for fear of losing a contact....). I got back around him and was leading into the last corner when i hit lapped traffic and 2nd got back around. He won by 5 or 6 inches... Took a safe 2nd place in 500GP Sunday as well.

Buells I struggled with. My 'A' bike (ex-pro thunder chassis) was running awesome in practice and I set my fastest lap ever with a 1:38, but last practice it blew a head gasket when it pulled a cylinder stud out of the case. Went to the 'B' bike which has a totally stock suspension, but a good 1200 motor and was in 2nd place in Battle of the Twins when it cracked an exhaust pipe and lost power (i thought at the time it was in process of blowing up.....). Eventually finished a disapointing 5th....

Boating sounds awesome! Unfortuneately I'll be in Arizona (lucky me....) for work until 8/6... Defintaely want to take you up on your offer though! I think I'll be ready for some water after 2 weeks in the desert wasteland...

Weather forcast for next wed. is lookin mighty fine for the track day!
Anyone who hasn't signed up, may I suggest you do?
If you've never done one, you won't regret it! You'll have a perma smile for the next day or two!

Racer,
"Eventually finished a disapointing 5th...." : (
I hope I can make it to that stage! If you read my post, which has now made it to the archive, I was quite happy with my 5th! In fact, my plaque is already mounted on the living room wall.
Now if I can just drop another 3 seconds or so, I should be able to find my way to the front!
Hoping this track day will help some.
Have a great weekend everyone!

A repeat post from earlier in the week -- I'd like some time to gather the materials is there's anyone who's interested

It’s occurred to me that one of the strengths of the chapter is the wide range of folks we’ve got – grizzled vets (like, oh, Johnny Mikosh, right? {grin}), and folks with mere months on two wheels.

Once of the side-affects of that is widely varying speeds at which riders are comfortable. I’ve notice on a couple of group rides that some folks are yawning in their helmets, while others are pounding down the road, hanging on so hard their knuckles are white – no fun.

I know everyone isn’t looking to lap Road America at Homeric speeds, but one thing that seems to link most riders is a desire to learn and improve their skills

Which leads me to, wait for it,

Idea the second (you knew I’d get to the point, dincha?) – I suggest that those who wish can sit for 15/20 minutes, and we can talk about lines through corners, why you should care, ways not to loose momentum (ya don’t have to accelerate if you don’t brake, yes?) and generally how to improve the control you have over your bike ( I can easily remember thinking I was riding a rocket over which I exerted no control whatsoever, and managed to get home through good luck and a benevolent diety).

After our conversation, we can ride the same route as the fast-movers, have the theories demonstrated, and, once we get to the destination, talk about what we learned and practiced.

Please don’t misunderstand – I’m no Keith Code, nor Freddy Spenser (my racing days ended due to the fact that I simply wasn’t very good), but I’m an OK street rider, I’ve survived, I think I’ve learned one or two things, and earned my paycheck by teaching technical subjects (back when I earned an honest living.

So – any takers?

Bomber, sounds like a great idea!

M2, Didn't mean i was disapointed with a 5th place finish.....some of the best and funnest races I've ever had have been for 15th place. I was disapointed as the bike was capable of a podium and my whole family was there, and I made a couple of mistakes... Ogh well, least kept it on 2 wheels....

Not that anything is up to me, but I think it's a great idea. This is the meeting before the track day and I'm interested in doing the disucssion portion because there's always things I don't know, have forgotten, or just plain need to be reminded of from time to time.

then I'll be prepared with a 15 minute atalk, and a ride to practice the skills afterwards -- I'll pass on the barr hopiing, though . . . . . I appreciate the offer, but it's not my cuppa tea
