My 2010 XT needs an IC, does anyone know if the 2010 XB models are the same as the 1125's in regards to the IC pairing with the ECM as far as the Odometer goes? |

The XB doesn't use a CANBUS link like the 1125, so I do not believe it does this. IT probably needs to be factory programmed like previous year XB Purely speculation, I've been meaning to tear into a 08+ XB book to see. |

hmm interesting. I called the dealership yesterday and they said they weren't able to put the mileage in the order. I dont have a copy of the 2010 manual yet to look into it further (should be here late this week). |

I connected a 2009 engine, ECM and wiring harness to my original 2007 instrument cluster and everything works without issues, and the original odometer reading was retained. I'd say that's pretty conclusive proof that the cluster doesn't pair with the ECM like the 1125 does. I'm glad I didn't know this could have been a problem when I was doing the engine swap- it would have been one more thing to worry about! |

That doesn't mean anything, you can swap clusters around all you want on the 1125 and the odo will not change. The pairing only has to deal with downloading the mileage/VIN/Security PIN off the ECM if the IC is replaced with new parts. |

Well I received a call back from the dealership today. They called HD (for what its worth) and they stated that the ECM stores the Mileage on the newer XB models as well. I guess I will find out when I order a new IC.... |

FWIW I changed the ECM on my '09 and the mileage was retained. Maybe it is stored in both the cluster and the ECM and whenever one is replaced the other restores the information. |

Frank, >>> The pairing only has to deal with downloading the mileage/VIN/Security PIN off the ECM if the IC is replaced with new parts. I no follow. Are you referring to the info obtained (downloaded) by the dealership service folks when they hook up their computer dealio to the bike? |

Cool. That would explain the different part numbers on 08+ clusters, I thought it was just the different check engine light.

Odo will not change once it has been programmed. You can replace the ECM as much as you want.

Nope. On the 1125R, which shares the same ECM as the DDFI3 XB. On the 1125 at least, both the cluster and ECM contain your VIN, Odo, and security PIN. If the one of these fails and is replaced by a blank (brand new) unit, it will copy the information from the other. This thread was started wondering if the XB has the same functionality. 03-07 bikes do not, 08+ might. |
