Just became the glad owner of a 1995 Buell S2T. I noticed on the way home from San Francisco that the speedometer doesn't read past 40 mph and the tach does not work at all. I am guessing this may be something I can fix myself. Any suggestions? Is this a common problem with 1995 Buell S2's? | ||

If the bike has been sitting pull the speedo cable off the bike then clean and grease the inner cable this should fix the slow reading speedo, as to the tach check the pink wire attaching to the coil and make sure it is connected correctly I had mine come loose from the connector at the coil. | ||

You dirty Rat! And no such beast as a 1995 S-2T,only 96 was the T available. If it has a white frame it is an S-2, a charcoal frame would be a T. | ||

Well I said in initial post on the Quick board that the T was a post manufacture mod by the then owner, so I am aware of it. But thanks for those tell tale details, I did not know that. And yes, I am a dirty rat and a wastral! I like this bike better then my X1. Fits better, rides better. She's a looker, too. (Message edited by jon on September 19, 2011) | ||

I can feel the brotherhood trickling down past my ears and neck! Rode it tonight in the warm California night. Stopped at a red light across from Petes and got some stares by a couple of Harley admirers. 'Tis a mystery to some. I got this bike with some work already done and the exhaust note sounds very authoritative. I also experienced what it is to run out of gas, coast around a safe corner and turn the toggle to reserve and then fire it right back up again. I loved that! Not backward...Basic! I like the blue too, but you can't argue with Red. | ||

Right on! I got home from work and walked by the red S2 and just had to start it up and take it around the block a few times. Incidentally, the state vin lists it as a 96 S2T. I spoke to dealer that I bought it from and said that it was not possible, as it was a white frame with no bags or other 'T' gear. They ran the numbers for me and it was never wreaked and the numbers match, so who knows what East Troy magic happened 15 years ago... | ||

Loren, Are those Buell "traction grips" on your S2? If so, were you able to force them on the S2's 1" bars? Or, did you do some other mod to get them to fit? | ||

Mike, those are traction grips on the 1" bars. Put them in a pot of boiling water to heat/soften them up and they go on pretty easy. | ||

Jon, It would be the last for digits of the vin. The registry is just an informal tracking of the bikes. As the numbers dwindle it might really mean something someday. Loren | ||

Thanks! Her name is "Baby" This was the day I picked her up.   And she says "Oh your new Baby is all cold in the back of the truck"....so the name stuck.  The new seat belongs to Frank. I was simply taking it for a little test ride before shipping it out.  | ||
