Hey SPLASH Gang!
Just got back from the lake and looking forward to SPLASH! We're staying with B&D Thursday so whatever they have planned for us Friday will be great.
Praying to the weather gods for an awesome weekend!

Ride on,

Lo

As a recent Bueller, I've discovered the unjoyful feeling of conflicting passions...

I live just up the road from Woodland, and travel the roads you will be riding often, in fact, I will be close this weekend, but on a Rokon instead of a Buell..

(Didn't link, gotta cut and paste, if yer interested..)

http://forums.delphiforums.com/rokon/messages?msg=5050.1

The Romp is just off of road 21, which merges to 23 south of Randall...
http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/recreation/trailbikes/global/images/1999-trail-map.gif

Road 21 is scenic, twisty and fun...gets kinda skinny the last two miles before Adam's fork..besides that it's great..

If any of y'all get bored riding Saturday, and want to see some more bikes that are 'Different in Ever Sense" then take a little detour up 21 and see us at Site 13 at Adam's Fork. I'll buy you a cool beverage if I ain't out riding myself, and if I am, the scenic detour will be worth it anyhow.

Next year I will be sure my passions compliment each other instead of collide...I can't think of a better summer than riding a weekend with Buellers and another with Rokonnuts...

Mark

Shotgun, Dinner in Packwood is being put on by Gary, aka Acid Burn on SacBorg. He is bringing 30 Tri Tip steaks, and a Big pot of Beans.

Should be enough food for everyone and he is also bringing all the cooking equipment.

I'll hang a donation can at dinner to offset his expenses. He has done this at his own expense and expects nothing in return. (can't let him do that!!)

Can't wait!

Friday??????? We are Boboquing Thursday night with the Canadians here at the house along with Duane and Lisa, Jack Patrick and others.

I will post tomarrow after we all decide on a route.

Bob

OK it is time for splash and I am not prepared at all, how much stuff do most of you bring?

Shotgun, do you bring sattle bags and all? or just use a backpack?

I bought a tank bag and was looking at some ones for the rear, but I dont know if they are going to work. I was just going to get them, but didnt want to have to return and what not if they dont work with my bike.

who all is leaving from Beaverton area to head up to splash? and where are we all meeting? (this is all provided that my shifter issue was resolved today)and there are no other issues that come up

alright, I got our rooms. I couldn't get one at the place by the lake though for tomorrow, as they had already booked up, for Saturday I got a room at the cowlitz. Still needing some feedback as to what exactly do people bring with them. We have not been on any rides with others and for this long, hell Tracie and I, (Tracie being the wife)have never even rode together. I just got the 2 up tail installed on the S1 yesterday. This should be funny since she has not been on a bike in years and I am going to put her on a thong bike and try to ride 400+ miles in 3 days? LOL....I will be bringing my cam corder and getting lots and lots of tape of the event. If you are shy of the camera....well tough ...anyways, I would really like to head up to washington with the rest of the beaverton area folks, Roc, Shotgun and whomever else, where are we meeting up? (Rocky, I saw you swerving back and forth behind a truck getting off of 217 and heading down walker the other day...Think you got enough headlights on that thing : ))

S1- we all pack very light..... Last year my brother-in-law and I were in one tail bag. This year it will be my spouse, myself and our son all in one tail bag. We actually go to the lake on Friday just for bar-b-que and then go home that evening. Then we get up early and ride back to the lake. As far as necessities go, you will need a pair of shorts for Saturday evening, a clean t-shirt if you are the type that sweats in your gear and a pair of sandals (or something that is not bulkey whereby you don't take up much room in your bag) Sometimes it gets a little chilly if we are all hanging out drinking and b-s'n in the parking lot of the hotel so I take a long sleeve t-shirt or put on my riding coat if need be. For your wife, the hotel usually has blow driers etc so that helps to be able to pack lighter.

Not sure if that is what you were looking for, but a backpack surely would be enough since it is only for one night. Some peeps throw in a bottled water, granola bars or p-nuts for side of the road snacking. We will stop for lunch but that is the only actual eating stop and that is later in the day for the long route.

Heck, knowing Matt and Mike they will make all of us fit into a tail pack and call it some sort of an adventure or survival 4 in 1 challenge.

See you and the wife soon -

Kimberlie

And on a Triumph you can fit a T-shirt under the seat.
Also know that our women seem to fit this moto,

Really!!

For those of us who are new to Splashing what should we bring to the Friday Barbecue. I am anticipating arriving in Woodland around 3 - 4 so it should not be a problem to make multiple trips for charcoal etc.

Happy and safe riding to all.

Buell Brener, I will be bringing the BBQ, food and some pop. Donations would be nice for the meal. Don't worry about anything except if you want some beer or ?? 3-4 is fine. See you there

Roc the lake is where we meet Sat morning at 8-8:30 depart at 9 am. The lake is in Woodland and is on the west side of I-5. You can see the park from the freeway.

I am all packed and ready to go. I plan on being at the park at 2 tomorrow to get a few things set up and maybe catch a few rays, and go swimming. I will have my cell with me if anyone needs to contact me 360-798-7460. Chris will have the BBQ and food and will arrive at 4. He has to work.

See you all there. Ride safe!

Thanks for the photo's Jim, they are exceptional!

SPLASH was great. 31 bikes. Old friends and new ones too. 2 smaller get-offs. 1 bigger one, but all are among the walking.

Kim Wood fought the ditch for almost 70 feet after going wide on a downhill left hander, but even though she popped it back onto the pavement, the ditch won. That is the same turn that took Ray and and Lyle 2 years ago in a SPLASH pre-ride. One of the Sheriff's responders says he's counted 8 bikes off there this year. (Ya think the county mite put a caution sign there?) It's a 40 MPH zone. Cop ticketed Kim for exceeding the conditions. The cop's gonna lose this one.

Kim got 3 stiches in her chin, small cut on forehead, swollen left elbow and really sore pelvis. Released from the hospital after xrays, sore as hell even with the pain meds, she Mike and Cody drove their pickup back up to Packwood last nite for the barbecue. We love you guys.

Acid Burn put on a fantastic barbecue! Ironic that the only guy from California brought all the meat and beer and ice and fixins for us. He asked for nothing in return but we put out a donation can and he said the cash ended up nearly covering everything.

Our hearts go with Loni and Chris Taylor who were headed home to pack up and drive down to California for Chris's grandfather's funeral. He and Chris were especially close because his grandparents raised him til he was 7 or 8.

We didn't get the Buell Teeshirt quilt raffled off because it and the ticket stu=bs were in Chris's mom's car and she dropped it at their house in Vancouver when she headed back to California. If everybody concurs, we'll draw for it Tuesday nite at our BRAG meeting.

As always, I am in absolute awe of the people from SPLASH. Friendly, welcoming, willing to give you the shirts off their backs, literally if needed. To all of you from Canada, thanks for coming, we'll see you at Border Raid.

Loni, our condolences to you and Chris and your family - our thoughts are with you guys. give a shout while you're down here if you need ANYTHING.

Kim, you gave me quite the scare when i got the call that you'd gone down (thank you Jim C.). i can't tell you how great it was to talk to you for a few minutes last night, you really sounded wonderful, and i'm glad Cody is ok thru all of this.

D 'n me ran into AcidBurn at Laguna last weekend and he went into some detail as to the BBQ, and had us both thinkin' maybe we needed to find a way to make it up there after all!

SPLASH was from the beginning a PERFECT gathering of people, bikes, and scenery. after all these years, it just continues to get better, and my thanks go out to the international cast of all-stars who make it such a special gig.

Chris and Loni, be safe, know we're thinking of you and your family.

XOXOXO,
Ferris & Denise
