I seem to remember reading here that there is a difference between the 1125 seat and other XB seats --- something about the mounting holes needing to be "ovalled out" to line up with the retaining bolts, and also maybe that there was a block that needed to be ground off. Is my recollection accurate? And, if so, is the surgery foolproof, or does it take skill and/or tools more sophisticated than a dremel? I have an upholsterer friend who I'd be willing to supply with an ebay seat (they can be had cheap) to see if he can turn it into the equivalent of the comfort seat. But many of the seats are from XB's and I don't want to get in over my head . . . |

I think the difference is the bolts themselves. XB uses SAE threads, 1125 uses metric. Check the American Sport Bike site, they have the retaining pin kits (AWESOME investment!) and their difference is "the" difference... |

The original Firebolt seat fits to the 1125 with no modifications. It's the corbin seat that may need mods. |

Rat, I have the American Sport Bike kit --- best $20 I ever spent. I just needed to know if I was going to have to do surgery on the seat base to get it to fit. I may have, as Sportster pointed out, been thinking about the Corbin. The ebay seller gave me a part number and it looks to be identical to the one on my seat, so I'm gonna grab it. |

Don't forget that a brand new seat is $48 or something like that. I haven't checked recently. Most of those ebay sellers want $75 or more. |
