my stator has cracks all through the epoxy and I can not chance a break down while cruizing the back roads from SoCal to colorado in June So I am rebuilding my charging system on my dime with a custom rewind green epoxy stator with smaller windings and compufire switching regulator. I am stupid and wonder what the smart people think of this plan? Also should I remove the harness upgrade? thanks for responding to another stator post todd |

I don't know anything about the regulator you're talking about, but if the current stators epoxy is dark and has cracks in it...yea, most definitely have it rewound before you take a drive that long. I never did the "harness upgrade" on my CR, my original stator lasted just over 17,000 miles and I've got 1500+ on stator #2 with no bad signs so far. I personally don't care for what the harness thing does. Mike |

Go for it, at least the stator. The only problem with the Custom Rewound stators is that we have no long term data on them. It will take time for most people to rack up 10,000+ miles to see if they are really a solution or not. But anything is better than nothing. I personally don't feel the regulator change is needed, but I would go to the compufire unit if any of mine ever failed. |
