I'd guess some of these have been covered before, but I have a few X1 questions, just generally curious, does anyone know the answers to: How many X1's were made? How many were X1W White Lightnings? (Is it X1W or X1WL?) What differences are there between Australian X1's and those for the US? (I know Australian and UK X1's have different gearing to US models, are there any other differences?) In fifth gear, what rpm is a US X1 doing at 60mph? Thanks

Not sure of numbers made, but sure Court or another guru on the site will know. I for one would like to know numbers in Oz. One question i can answer, sort of. With the Aussie gearing 5th is clicked in place at 3000 and 120ks. Below that it labours some as the power starts to begin at 3 and over. You'll find with standard chip etc, the motor goes smooth at 3000. With the race kit fitted to the bike you are looking at, the power will come on earlier, and will rev out further, but i'm not sure about where the vibes are soaked up by rpm and angine mounting system. maybe earlier, maybe later. From what I have found, its simply the gearing that changed for these bikes in Australia. I havn't noticed any other differences. MadGaz |

I know they made 400 of mine! And 400 red stripe ones. I've always wondered the total (USA) build number too... Mike M |

Total for all X1's was somewhere in the 10,000 range. I could look up the exact numbers year by year but right now im not that bored. |

Dynasquid, I hope you get bored easily as I'd like to know, too, but don't know where to look. FUELL gives total numbers but not a breakdown by year and variant. |

Thanks in advance Dyna... if you're not careful, I'll put up a whole heap of *really* boring posts that make production numbers seem interesting For all of those who gave advice on M2's vs. X1's vs. SpeedTriples etc, thanks for all your help. I've put a deposit on 2002 X1W with race kit. I fly to Sydney in a week and a bit and get to ride it 1000km/600miles back to Brisbane - WOOHOO!!! Can't wait (And it looks like I've sold my GSXR too, which is a bonus, but I'll miss it ) |

Thanks Bvan Dyna - you're off the hook. I didn't realise X1W's were only made in 2002. There seem to be a lot of X1W's in Oz, maybe that was the only colour in 2002 in Oz... |

From some other posts plus Madgaz above, US gearing equals around 60mph/100kmh at 3000rpm in fifth, Oz/UK gearing is about 70mph/120kmh at the same rpm. |
