After buying my R and reading around on this site I just had go buy me a Uly (and my R was lonely). A 06 XB12X popped up here locally for sale,So I sold my old FXST and went full in with Buell. I got the Bike for $4000 with 7000 miles on it and a extra low sear and airbox cover in orange. It needs some passenger pegs and a left side mirror but other than a little service rust on the muffler I'm pretty happy. Best thing about it I had just done a little over 200 miles on my R when I stopped by and drove it home, pure heaven to ride (all the hype is true). I know its an older model but I'll be picking peoples minds on here to educate myself about this bike and what all I need to do to have her in top running shape. Seats a little wet in the picture. I'm all ears if anyone has some advise on what to look out for on these.

I Have an 06 too, i'd go for a stock handle bar, at least for me it's ideal, see if the BAS (Bank Ankle Sensor) is located behind the seat in the trunk, front fender is not stock, rear end painted in black? original color was the same as the hand grabs (holes in the and grabs?), mirror is also aftermarket, and the place for the number plate has been chopped off (tidy tail). dont mean any thing is wrong just, pointing out what I see. |

Thanks Pontlee, You told me alot more about it then I knew. Hoping to find a beak for the front (just love that look). Going to have to come up with something for the rear passenger pegs. The only way I got the wife to Ok buying it was to show her how comfortable it would be for her (she hates ridding the R. |

Are the mount holes still there for the rear pegs? |

Ronmold, Yes sir they are. It had some kind of funky setup on it that stuck out 10" or so. I just couldn't bare to look at them, kinda could have been a crash bar with pegs on them. Should I go ahead and get the comfort kit M1907.1AK? or FRAME AIR FLOW COVER KIT M2138.1AK. Maybe both? are they the same thing kinda? I live in South Louisiana and it gets pretty hot down here. |

I like the tail light housing painted black. I painted the seat rails, grab rails, and tail light housing graphite gray (frame color) right after I bought my XT. |

Go here for lots of info; http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/442053.html?1238017122 I would go with the comfort kit if it's still available. Did he give you any history? 77 connector changed etc.? Some 06's had issues but many didn't. You will find many answers at the link above. Have fun!! |

Any year Uly is a great bike! The only problem is that you will want to keep riding...therefore you may not be home as much now! I would seriously consider getting the update kit for the infamous "77" connector...one of the few problems that will leave you stranded. |

Thanks for all the pointers and a big thank you to Ray from downunder with a copy of his service records on his 06. I was wondering if anyone could give me a link or someone I could PM my vin to and check if all recall work has been done on it. My nearest Buell friendly dealership is over 100 miles away and a 23 mile bridge over the swap area that I would hat to break down on. Also,Is the Front Fender Kit (beak) an ACCESSORY? Or can it still be ordered? Front Upper part # M1662.1AKMBP Lower Center part # M1125.3AKMBP Lower Left part # M2124.1AKMBE Lower Right Part # M2126.1AKMBE |

The Beak was stock on all X the XT if i'm not wrong had your front fender being an 06 bike that year if i'm not wrong there was no XT. If I lived in the US i'd send you the beak, but Postal service in spain is so expensive that the shipping could cost more than what it's worth. |

Things that have gone bad on my 06 are- cooling fan, warping of front brake rotor, and snapping of drive belt. Keep an eye on that. |

After doing a little more reading and some very nice people on this site, I was able to spend some more money. I have the OEM hard bags and tail bag coming, with a set of mirrors. I ordered up a 77 connection along with a volt meter to keep an eye on the charging (Thanks to the great write up from Ft_bstrd) Just trying to piece together the rear passenger pegs. Thanks for all the info and help on spending my money, my wife loves you guys, lol. |

Need a little help. I have a set of the OEM hard cases coming and after looking at my rear signal lights, seems they maybe mounted to high? I know the guy cut the plate holder off but is did he remount the signal lights higher? I had my wife take the picture (I'm at work offshore for another week).

Yes they are more high, actually fitted on the red side reflector place, If i were you i'd try to find a stock back end and fit it on it's not that complicated. par numbers you will need are: M0755.1AK M0027.1AK The rest is there, be aware that if you're going to get the new side plates for the rear pegs do this before the side cases because the front bolts are hooked to these side plates where the pegs go. |

If you think your wife likes the Uly better, just wait til she rides with those bags mounted. Not only is the Uly more comfortable but the handles on the bags make great grab handles. Takes practice mounting since you have to stand off the bike, let her get squared away and then you mount up. We rented one from Hals for the 25th, Sunny LOVED it (we rarely ride same bike - we're usually both riding our own) |

I could be wrong so anyone with more info please chime in. You may want to find some directions regarding the tidy tail. It looks as if the guy (previous owner) may have just taken a Reciprocating Saw to the back end. Maybe not. I don't recall seeing the bare metal like that on others that have done that mod. Anyone? no, those are metal straps he bought at the hardware store. I just built a tidy tail on my bike(pics to come) and can tell you, it's all plastic back there. |
