ok my bike is fully stock! i have and open breather kit, and a jardine exhaust. now i have an 03 xb9 that just broke 4k miles. all i have done to my ecm is add some increments to my timing maps, but very little. and i also made the timing maps equal. now for the fuel maps i just added fuel to the 3k-4k sections so that i dont have the dead spot. now after doing that a few times. my bike just dosent ride well at all. like at first it rides great but after a few miles it starts popping when im slowing down and even when im accelerating. its very frustrating. i dont know what to do. im really thinking on getting a new ecm but before i do that are there any other suggestions for my problem?? |

I had the same basic thing happen to me - then I limited the AFV to 104% (the no lower than side) so that it could not adjust itself down lower than 104% - did not touch the upside, though. For me, it worked - YMMV. I never touched the timing. John |

Check what your AFV is at when this is all happening. My guess is that the bike is seeing the extra fuel at the O2 sensor, and is backing down the AFV a bit, which screws up everything else. |

well i never thought of it being bad but yes everytime i plug it in the afv is always below 100. so should i give it a no lower than setting. |

And of course if you want to revert back to the stock '03 tune and for some reason can't program back to that... I happen to have a stock '03 XB9 ECM in the Parts for Sale section... |

Have I got this right? You've tinkered with the ECM settings. It doesn't run right anymore. And the ECM must be at fault? How about we assume the settings you changed are wrong. Reset and try again following the advice the others have posted. There's some good tutorials on this site and others. |

haha yes it could have been me but honestly i dont think i did that much to it. and its always been a problem even before i got it and started messing with it. but today it rode fine. i have my afv set to 100 as the min. hopefully that clears everything up. |

Yea, after you have it running right, immediately check the AFV. Then on the second or third to the last page of Spy ("Other Maps"), set the "minimum AFV" to the same value. This way, the the AFV cannot lean the maps back to near...where they were before the change. You can globally move the maps around with the "AFV adjust" on the third page...but again, remember to also change the "minimum" on the "Other Maps" page. Mike |

It may be the exhaust causing the lean condition. I ran a jardine before with a stock ECM and it ran like doodoo. Get the race ECM and it will help some, best advice I can give is get rid of the JARDINE ASAP. Jimmy |
