just sent my bike to the shop cause at about 4 grand it starts coughing. but once i hit about 5 grand it runs just fine. the shop said that when they took the air filter off that it ran about 80% better??? said that it might be running too rich. how much are they gonna charge me for a remap if thats even a problem? any suggestions or past experiences from anyone? |

Can we have a little history of your bike? Year/model/mileage, any modifications? Service history? |

You need a race ECM, but even with the race ECM, race filter, and race exhaust I have a dip there, I'm gonna try airbox mods to get more air in, but I think in your case you need more fuel. |

I have it happen right at 4000. If I stay there for several minutes, there is a loud pop. Performance seems to be okay, and right close to it seems to be okay as well. I've just learned to avoid that spot since it works so well every where else. Apparently, there is a ECM change that takes place at 4100, so I see it as the top end of one system before the beginning of the next. I'm not going to worry about remapping for such a focused problem. p.s.: on the '03, the stock ECM is the race ECM, you just use a race map. |

the D&D pipe uses a lot less fuel in the middle than the race pipe and the stock pipe exactly in the issue area you have. I would say IMO it just way rich then catching back up at just a tad higher rpm. remapping of the fuel will fix it. HD cant do it!!! Erik Buell Racing can or you can with one of a couple tools. |

Go with Xopti on this if you feel it must be fixed. Me, it's such a narrow problem and the rest is so good, I'm leaving it alone. If yours is happening through 4000 to 5000, then that would be an issue to resolve, even from 4000 to 43-4500 would be an issue. |
